2-player Co-op Game

Noyu

Good Day LTT,

Backstory: My cousin is in for the Christmas vacation and we're both so bored playing our own games each.

Question: Can you guys give suggestions for a good co-op PC game? Doesn't really need a backstory, just fun.

Preferences: free | local | FPS is a must

Current Considerations: Borderlands 2 | CoD games | Payday 2

Please do not suggest: L4D2 | Portal 2 |

in that case, Borderlands 2 is probably your best bet

Hmmm can I buy just one copy of Borderlands 2? Would I be able to start both games on both machines under one steam account? And then co-op by LAN?

Or do I need to buy another one for a separate account to install on the laptop?

So far I've read that if I disconnect from the internet, it may work.

I own BF3 on Origin (and I just read that it also has a CO-OP mode). Same question with Borderlands 2, 1 account, 2 PC, LAN Co-op possible?

You can actually do split-screen co-op via a console command in BL2.

Gauntlet ain't bad for some mindless hacking and slashing in a local co-op.

One thing I might suggest is to run console emulators and play some classics.

Not FPS but I will always suggest Resident Evil 5, it's great in co op. Also might wanna consider Splinter Cell Conviction games if you ever feel like switch genres. Dying Light is awesome. Heard Killing Floor 2 was fun.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

Doom

So much this. Get a sourceport and run Doom 2. Even just cruzing the servers that are up at any given time will provided you with an experience which is modded so heavily and updated to modern control expectations that it will always be a good time.

I would recommend Zandronum as a source port of choice, but there are other options out there.
