Hi guys,

I'll soon™ get a new PC, with a 6700K (hopefully provided by a colleague) housed in an Enthoo Evolv ATX and powered by an EVGA P2 650W. I'll temporarily keep my monitor and my GTX 670.

However, I'd like some advice about the mobo and the storage.

My current options for the motherboard are the Asrock Extreme 7+ and the Gigabyte Gaming 7. The Extreme7+ has one more M.2 slot (2x80mm and 1x110mm) and a more subtle look. The Gigabyte one has a better audio circuitry and costs a bit less.

Are there other good mobos with 2+ M.2 slots and good I/O and overclocking capabilites? I'd like to stay under 250-260€. Forget about the "normal" Gigabyte UD5, it looks like nonexistent in EU. I'd like to have a strong support in case of bad luck, AFAIK Gigabyte makes reliable mobos and Asrock is really good on the Intel side nowadays.

For storage I thought about 2 options: a single 1TB 850 Pro for everything (I don't use a lot of space) vs a 512GB 950 Pro+1TB hdd 2.5" (in order to use it as a backup after I make my rig ssd only).
Most of the people I asked suggested the 850... what do you think? In this case I'll obviously get a NVMe M.2 SSD as soon as I have enough money

Oh, something more:

What do you advice, Black or Anthracite for the Enthoo Evolv ATX?

TY in advance

ASRock mobo and SSD + HDD

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.

Why do people change the color of their text... and or copy paste so much lol.

>Dark theme problems

Get the ASRock Mobo and the

512GB 950 PRO + 1TB HDD Western Digital Blue

Sorry, I think I've solved the format issue

What about the case colour? Moreover I'd like to go full SSD, so I'd prefer a 2.5" HDD to reuse it as a portable backup drive

It's fine, I'm not sure if you can really fix it once it's screwed. It's still black text for me. Haha.

But I like the black evolv, very beautiful case.

I'd recommend using the 1TB HDD for backups though. Or just to put your pictures and videos and music on, there is no need to burn up a SSD for pictures and videos. Save that space for your games and OS and other important things. Since that HDD won't get used much since you only use it for backups, pictures, music, and videos, it will last a much longer time.

Also I chose the Asrock simply because it's a brand I trust. Never had issues with ASRock.

I set it to Auto... don't know why it's still black on night theme

I've just found a good price for a 950 pro, I'll probably go for it. I'll probably pair it with a Travelstar 7K1000 for storage and probably some games.

I love the Evolv ATX in every colour, however the Anthracite one looks like it's the only one really ready to be shipped from where I'm shopping, while the black one could take some days more ( and I should complete the build by the 7th of January)
