What graphics card should I get? HELP

I have an old pc but I want to upgrade my graphics card

My current pc specs:

Intel core 2 quad q9300 2.5GHZ

RAM 4.00 gb ddr2

standard 500watt psu

intel dg33fb motherboard

current gpu: radeon 6850

 

I want to upgrade my gpu to either the new r9 380x or the 960 gtx

 

which one?

It will die. Your CPU will likely bottleneck, and your PSU isn't high enough quality.

yea one of those am afraid, technology in our country is very expensive you guys have no idea..I was thinking the 960 is the better choice for me till i can afford a new rig

or have your new gpu catch fire because of a dodgy power supply?

LGA 775 is a bit of a dead end. What country are you in? If your in the UK, get a new motherboard online, see if you can get a good deal on a CPU from somewhere like CEX. Otherwise, use PCPartPicker. (In fact, use PCPartPicker anyway, no matter what)

500W is enough for 390

Does that PSU even come with PCI-E connectors??? Please don't do molex to PCI-E adaptors... Probably that PSU is saying 500W is its "peak" wattage which I don't think it will last 10 seconds on that wattage. I would suggest a 750 Ti with no additional power input.

500W is enough for 390

with that psu its generic as fuck and might have reliability issues with higher voltages

This is also route you can take. You don't need to spend a ton on your PSU. :) The lowest priced models from XFX or Seasonic are EXCELLENT!
