Why are people starting to say that AMD is gonna take over NVIDIA suddenly?

Profoundsoup

I dont understand how this logic works. NVIDIA owns 80%+ of the GPU market sales. How can anyone say that AMD is gonna take over when they have less than 20% of the market.....? I dont understand...

That in no way will happen, if AMD can consecutively deliver competitive offerings then the market share will average at around 40/60 or 50/50. I don't see why this can't be achieved, especially with the formation of Radeon Technologies Group.

AMD's sales last quarter were 18.8%, a 0.8% increase from the last quarter, keep in mind sales are not representative of market share.

That was discredited - real share from a marketing report around the same time stated 77% to 23% (since that doesn't count iGPUs)

Look at what subreddits you're on.

PCMasterRace is full of people who don't know what they're talking about, and PCGaming likely as well.

Because AMD fanboys are probably the hardest community to reason with.

Anyway, the current Nvidia gen debuted in september of 2014. That's quite some time ago.

uhhh - who said that? I mean, anything is possible, but it's not looking likely atm... I'd be content with them selling enough to keep their r&d going.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨
