VTech hack update: man in UK arrested

A 21 year old man from Berkshire, UK, has been arrested as part of the investigation into the hacking of kids toy company VTech

Is it just me, or are we seeing companies being hacked almost on a daily basis nowadays? On a multitude of devices, using different OS's, with different types of user, in all parts of the world, "hacking" (by which I mean the breach of security software with the intention to steal data, personal or otherwise) is on the rise, and if more companies encrypted all of the data stored on their systems, we'd see less of it. In my opinion, the problem is the same as it has always been. Cost. Companies want to make products in a budget, and that's fine as long as they don't cut corners on, or overlook, security. Unfortunately, this is exactly what companies like VTech are doing. In my mind, until companies realise they need to spend a little more to avoid costly lawsuits in the future, the hacking of personal devices will continue to rise.
