Motherboard Heatsinks

Bob Jim

I am looking to build a black/white ITX system. The Asus Z170i Pro Gaming has the right price/performance ratio, but its heatsinks are monstrosities for teenagers pretty much.

Would it be possible to cover the red stripes on the Heatsinks with cut out strips of white or black tape? Would that interfere with the cooling/ melt the tape or make it less adhesive?

You can just take the heatsinks off and paint them?

Can you without damaging stuff? Also I would much rather something which does not void the warranty.

Well, yeah you can just tape over it. With painting it though, if you use plastidip you can just peel it off if it need replacing in the future :P Also, those heatsinks are held on by plastic pegs/little screws afaik.

I don't see the black/red theme in my build (horizontal MOBO orientation w/ GPU blocking view of MOBO), so I don't really care about the colors. I would suggest painting them with plastidip.
