360 curved displays?

Tmt97

I had this wacky idea. If you bought enough curved displays could you make a circle? And how would the computer wrap the image around? I'd imagine that when your arranging where the displays are relative to each other in the OS, it would try to think of it as flat, so two ends wouldn't connect right I guess? Very confusing. Dont worry, I'm not crazy/rich enough to try this, I'm just curious.

It'd need to be a huge circle, and why the hell would you, but in theory it would work.

Would it be useable though? or would the image be too stretched?

It's hard to say, because no one has ever used a setup like this.

I'm not sure you can plug that many monitors in at once? It's kinda what VR is for, even if it isn't quite with us yet.

no its not possible because it would not join together at the back

you would need 360 video to be able to do this, which is what VR can do

increasing the FOV in games will not make your video wrap around you entirely

Considering how subtle the curve on the monitors is, you'd end up with a ton of monitors and a massive circle. Like "Can't see anything that's written on the monitor without binoculars" massive.

And then there's the fact that you'd probably have precisely zero software that came with the aspect ratio you would be getting. Most likely result? It fits a few monitors, with the rest just not being recognized whatsoever.

Underneath? I thought OP saying full 360 here.... Like spherically formed.

Nah, I was thinking cylindrical. Although spherically formed would be even better.
