So im finally in the market for a notebook. After looking at the reveal of the surface I really wanted to get one, but every time i click on the "checkout" button, i get second thoughts, cancel the order, then i go and watch some reviews and vs. videos against the surface book. I really love that thing, but i dont know how it will be once i get it. I need something that i can take to school. Something that has a max of 15.6 inch or less screen size, something that is quite slim and very good quality. It also needs to have a touch screen, atleast 8gb ram. But most importantly, it neeeeds decent to good battery life that wont shit the bed after 5 months of use. I was looking at the new dell XPS 15 infinity, and i think its also a very compelling option. but help me out, what are your suggestions, if you have more questions on what i want. be sure to quote me :)

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

Zenbook UX303

XPS 13 or 15

Those are honestly the only two I'd recommend.

I've used both extensively, the UX303 is a WAY BETTER value, the XPS 13 is a imho nicer (infinity display mainly)...

Thinkpad T450 c:

im not fond of Lenovo at the moment, or dell. But Dell is the other compelling option with their USB C available. So i wont have to worry about being on the trail end of the curve if next year all notebooks have that port. For the surfacebook on the other hand, I think microsoft will release upgradable bases, so im hoping that will bring in some nice new features if i get the surfacebook.

Oh, all right. I only recommended one because I love Thinkpads.

I do too, I love that new X1 carbon, but with the news and stuff recently, I dont like either dell or Lenovo right now.

That's mostly why I bought an older Thinkpad for my daily use, a T420. None of that spyware shit c:

I got my uncle one of those too. I liked it so much that i wanted to get one for myself, but at the time I still had my Y560. Now that its finally dead, I need another notebook that can run for 4+ years.

My T420 is three years old (purchased it at that age) and has been serving me very reliably. I'm pretty confident it'll last another 4 years.

If you would look at a Lenovo laptop maybe look at the yoga 900 or 700. but both the Surface pro and the Surface book are great laptops.

The XPS are not the best if you want to draw on it because you can't really lay the screen flat or open it so it's close to being flat or just simply move the keyboard out of the way.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

I never needed one to draw on (though that could change, im taking a couple design classes next semester). I just needed a solid ultra portable device that can last a few years.

I know from my studies that a pc that's good to draw on would be so much easier, so i am getting the Surface pro 4 i5 256Gb
