What connector is this? (go to second page)

Kyzer
Go to solution Solved by Glenwing,

Mini DisplayPort. There is no "micro" DisplayPort.

Is it possible to make the panel look like an IPS? Or will there always be a difference? I'm stuck between it and an IPS UW monitor.

I like smoother visuals but the IPS has better colors, which is pretty useful for the lighting work I do... why is there no inbetween that doesn't cost a fortune? (UW IPS w/ 120/144hz)

If theres a slight difference in color with IPS from a straight-on view (which is what the monitor will be used with), you could probably just turn up saturation and not worry about the other panel.

But whats a better buy for the same price? Also does the VG248QE have a 120Hz mode thats less eye straining? A video I watched said something about this (T.o.T.)

VG248QE, 24" 1920x1080 TN 144hz/1ms

2560x1080 29" (21:9) 2560x1080 IPS 60hz/5ms

But first, let's talk about parallel universes.

How good are the blacks and the whites and the colors with the VG?

https://youtu.be/O9sEKs56A9g?t=4m12s

Being able to more accurately see what those colors look like with an IPS monitor would be nice. I would like a monitor that can properly display blacks and colors, but I game too. Is there no inbetween monitor? The problem is that I don't do a lot of either. I do 50/50 lighting work and games.

So

Get the ASUS if minor color difference isn't an issue

Get the IPS UW if you can sacrifice refresh rate and response time, you get ~3-4 inches of horizontal space more

There's roughly a 4-5" wide difference between the two monitors, while it isn't much of an issue, since I'll still be using my current TN panel as a secondary...

I assume the ASUS would be much more enjoyable for gaming since the refresh rate and response time. It would be mostly only useful for Source games, stuff like BF4 would need to run ~medium to get high enough fps to make use of it (~120)

not even that my buddy with a 1440p display compliments me on my lower resolution benq xl2020TE cause the display is just fucking nice, and to my understanding the ASUS uses the same panal, I actually have issues in that at times I wnt the bigger 55" TV experience...but frankly my monitors just are nicer to look at with better colours and the sharper display (pixel density)
