Help With Asus MG279Q Refresh Rate Problems

I just got the Asus MG279Q monitor, but am having some weird problems. Whenever I am playing video games, the screen will go blank for 2-4 seconds. This happens every 15+ minutes until the refresh rate of the monitor drops from 144Hz to 60Hz. Once it is at 60Hz, the blank screen does not happen again.

I have the Asus MG279Q and a Samsung S27B970 plugged in. For the Asus, I have tried using 2 Display Port cables, one being a the provided Mini-Display Port to Display Port cable. I have tried all the Display Ports on the graphics card too.

reinstalling didn't help, but I am getting an odd error.

"the system has detected a problem with the connection between your computer and the displayport display that will prevent you from using the highest resolution"

the cable i have is DisplayPort 1.2, so I am a bit confused.

Hi there, bit of a necro-post here but I am having the exact same issues and am very curious about the outcome for you..

Strolling around on the net for hours now and unfortunately not much information about the subject to be found. Well.. Plenty of folkes with the same issues, but no actual solution or outcome that's somewhat positive.

Hope you could help me out, if you managed to solve this ofcourse~

Hallo! I just want to say that I have the same problem and I cant find any solution for it. Any updates on this?

I did test my Asus MG279Q monitor with my old HD 7970 and it seem to have the same problem and I id buy a new cable but it did not make any differences. I recently reinstalled windows 7 but the same problem is there...

So I did find some kind of solution that works for me.

I have tested the monitor with 2 graphic cards (hd 7970, rx 480) for some months ago and the problem seems to be the same. But for one week ago I was ready to send the monitor back to Asus and maybe get a new one but first I wanted to test the monitor with a different computer. I did that and to my surprise not a single black screen at 1440p at 144hz. I tested for one hour playing rocket league. So I took the MG279Q home again and connected my old hd7970 and tested that again... 2 minutes of rocket league at 144hz and BAMM... Black screens... So in rage i disconnected my wireless network card that i don't use anymore (ASUS PCE-AC6). Started up the computer and not a single black screen. Tested for 2 hours. But the story is not over... Connected my rx480 again and did some rocket league and BAMM! Those ******* black screens pops up again. Connected my old hd7970 again and have not seen a black screen for 7 days.

Maybe this is motherboard related? PCI express over load? Or maybe MG279Q is just to fragile and not well don't when it comes to 144hz? RX 480 seems to have a lot of problems with this tho but i don't know...

The drivers I use for hd7970 are the one that windows 7 installs by default. I have not tested download any drivers from AMD.

Maybe this can help someone. Cheers!
