Is it worth going from a 280X to a 380X?

So I plan on upgrading my Gpu for Christmas and I had my eye on the 380x but I'm not 100% sure if it's worth getting.

 

My original plan was just to add one more 280x but I'm having a hard time finding a Asus R9 280x.

 

What do you guys think? 380x worth it the upgrade?

Yes, for CF.

Unless you can find the 280X for more than $50 cheaper.

Your card doesn't have to be an ASUS card.

I'd just get another 280X. Or be patient and keep searching for another Asus card.

I prefer performance over looks to be honest.

The Nitro is perfect then. It's very subdued.

You could always get a 7970 and CF it with that, technically. Same chip. Many programs don't even know the difference between the two.

You could always get a 7970 and CF it with that, technically. Same chip. Many programs don't even know the difference between the two.

I don't mind used as long as the card has a manufacture warranty on it.

 

The Asus Matrix 7970 was one card I had in mind that I wouldn't mind getting.

390, both are subdued but the 380x wouldn't offer any improvement in performance, not for the investment anyway. The 390 is a nice step up, but if you want bang for the buck try and find a tri-x 290x, they were a few dollars cheaper than the 390 Nitro last I checked.

Yeah I didn't think about looking into a 290x.

 

Might just have to do that and see what I can find.
