PC Builds for my little brother.

JoshB2084

I want to building my little brother's "gaming" PC, you know... I'm not sure about adding aftermarket CPU cooler. Do I need it? Our budget  is about $800-825 and must buying from Newegg. About OS, I can buying from Reddit's  MS software swap...

I want to building my little brother's "gaming" PC

That's a pretty solid build, and no you won't need an aftermarket cooler, unless you want a quieter cooler.

Thought might I put my opinion. There is no need for a WD Black... Save your money and get a Green.

I have no problems at all with this build.

There is nothing I would change out of preference for something better, really at all.

However, a semi-modular power supply can go a long way towards a nicer all around build.

And while honestly 16gbs is almost a must for a system these days, you could get away with 8gbs.

Also an aftermarket cooler would mean a much quieter system, and the i5 could also stay at its turbo boost 24/7 if it needed to. The hyper 212 evo is only 20$ right now, and is an awesome choice for this cpu.

Great choice on storage, gpu, and cpu mate.

Unless you will be overclocking, which you won't be, you don't need an aftermarket cooler. The stock one will do just fine.

I didn't read about the newegg only, so here you go.

Also, 8GB is PLENTY for games and browsing. Unless he's video editing ect.

I use 8GB of RAM and I have 6 YouTubes open, 29 tabs, steam, skype, and playing games. I don't run into any ram issues.

Sorry, it should be a blue, forgot to change that.

And yes, Blacks perform better... However, you have a SSD in this system... You don't need a Black. The price that they cost isn't worth it. Might as well save that money and put it towards the GPU so you can get better FPS rather than sacrificing your FPS for a few seconds faster load time in your games, and really, maybe only 1-5 seconds in-games...

1. Motherboard is the ATX ASRock Extreme 3. Solid cheap board that is even cheaper then what you picked.

2. Did a WD Blue drive because you're not going to notice to much difference between the black and blue for documents and apps. If it was a boot drive a black is better.

3. PSU is a cheaper one that I picked out. It is an 80+ Gold certified fully modular psu from EVGA. 70 bucks was to expensive man.

4. I included a heat sink because the one that comes with the cpu is aweful. Loud fan and doesn't work well. This Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is a cheap one but a good one. Lots of people use it.

5. I also included a disc drive. It can also play blue rays. 30 bucks added. You can also just buy a DVD burner for 15 bucks or no disk drive. It's nice to have though.

I kept you under $800.
