I am officially stuck.

Chewique

Well, I am 1 13 year old PC gamer. I am looking to build my own pc in February and I'm thinking what GPU to get. I know that the AMD line (300 series) is better than nvdia's 900 series for gaming but i also do a bit of graphic design.

I want to play games such as:

Minecraft (with shaders)

JustCause 3

CSGO

GTA V

and a few more.

I have about $450 to spend on my GPU.

It will be hooked up to 2 1080p monitors.

My other specs are:

I5 4690k

EVGA 650W PSU

8GB 1666 ram

msi gaming mobo

MY RIG

I5 6600k

16gb Corsair vengeance 2666mhz

MSI Gaming X 1070

WD blue 2tb

samsung 850 evo 250gb

EVGA supernova G2 650w

The AMD 390x is as good as it gets at the 400-450USD price range. If you want to save 100-150USD you can go for a 390, which performs about 85-90% that of the 390x.

Motherboard: Asus X570-E
CPU: 3900x 4.3GHZ

Memory: G.skill Trident GTZR 3200mhz cl14

GPU: AMD RX 570

SSD1: Corsair MP510 1TB

SSD2: Samsung MX500 500GB

PSU: Corsair AX860i Platinum

Go AMD unless you want something specific from Nvidia, like PhysX.

Try to get a 980 or 980 Ti, though the 970 isn't that bad IF you want to go Nvidia.

Otherwise 390/390X all the way.

"Normandy" i7 4790K - GTX 970 - Phantom 410 (Gun metal) - Z97 Extreme4 (asrock) - 128GB Crucial SSD - 1TB WD HDD - H60 Refurb. - 7 case fans | G710+ Keyboard, G230 Headset, Acer GN246HL Monitor.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

VRam is important.

I meant to say not critically important (from what ppl on this fourms sayed to me) and most games dont use 8gig on 1080p, thanks for repairing me

Its some pyhisics engine. You can use it on AMD but it will cut out a few frames.

It's practically dead, in fact, it was never really alive.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_hardware-accelerated_PhysX_support

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/physx/games

Of the 5 games that has it in 2015, 2 of them utilize  the CPU to use it. So only 3 games rely on an Nvidia GPU to use PhysX.
