Tech Gifts for Non-techies Giveaway!

Probably a better camera. They are terrible with buying cameras and they usually buy digital thin cameras that fit in pockets. Of course, number of megapixels is the biggest seller for them. Something in the lines of the similar would be a good thing for them I think: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-SX530-HS-Enabled/dp/B00RKNND2W/ref=zg_bs_281052_11

Also, a giveaway of my own for some of you tech-savy enough :)

I'd like to gift my parents a new LED t.v even the most basic ones. You wouldn't believe it, but they still use one of the good old CRT T.V & the excuse?

It's been 10 years & hasn't failed on us once.

Have been building a desktop for my girlfriend who does all her video/photo editing on a crummy $200 laptop. Got all the parts for her desktop except a graphics card. Been waiting to save money to get the last piece. This gtx 960 would run beautifully in her setup!

My brother has recently been calling me and asking about information about the new android wear watches.  He isn't seriously into tech stuff but he seems to be taking an interest ever since he got his own laptop.  I'd love to get him a moto 360 but college ruins my budget and i feel like this could finally get him something he can learn about on his own.  This giveaway is a great idea and gives me a chance to get my brother into the kind of stuff that like to do.

So I would love to give to my parents Spigen Stealth car holders for phone.

  • they drive a lot (because of work), and I'm always telling them TO NOT talk on phone while they driving, that would make life much more safe
  • they use 2 cars so I would need to buy 2 holders for each one
  • it doesn't require screwing in, it has this funny sticky rubber
  • it is easy to fit any size of smartphone
  • it's tech related but easy for non-techies such as my parents,
  • everyone has smartphone now
  • spigen quality (very ++)

It's not anyway close to 300$ and it doesn't matter for me. It must be usefull gift :P. Last year I bought them digital photo frame Zoom.Me to send them photos while I'm away from home (but I guess I'm only one that can match phone with it so my parents are non-techies very much).

Would be nice to give back to my father after all he has done for me in terms of learning about computers and tech back in the day. He has now fallen off the train and relies on me to help him with everything. He used to be really big into home audio but he has also fallen off that thanks to kids and lack of money haha.

Would like him to get an amazing pair of headphones as he does enjoy sitting at his computer and just listening away. The Audio Technica ATH-AD900 looks like something he would immensely enjoy.

WHAT: Renogy Solar Panel Kit

WHO: Dad

WHY: Because I want to give something to make him face away from the TV :). It's going to be a fun weekend project and could be a gateway for my folks to become fully committed to solar. You know this type of dad - the handyman who can't stop fixing/installing/adding stuff at your house. Folks are usually just looking for things to busy themselves, and TV is starting to become too droll.

Philips Hue Starter Kit http://www.amazon.com/Philips-456210-Starter-Generation-White/dp/B014H2P4KW/ref=dp_ob_title_hi

For my parents, since every-time they watch a movie in our house (especially when with guests), they sit down and get everything set up. Then they have to get up again, after getting comfortable, and walk >20m halfway upstairs to the light switch to turn off the lights, and then make their way back in the dark. This would really help them out with making the process easier and less frustrating.

I'd get my parents an NVIDIA Shield because they watch a lot of amazon prime and Netflix in the living room, but the native options on the LG Smart TV they have is just pitiful... for example, none of the applications have support for updates, so Netflix runs off its first iteration, so things like profiles are not supported. Also, the WiFi connectivity on the TV is so bad that it straight up cannot produce/stream 1080p video (and we have decent internet, more than enough for a competent device).

LTT,

I would like to get my Mother a Canary All-In-One Home Security Device.  She just moved away from my Father, for 2 years, due to her job and now she lives alone in an apartment in a different city.  I would get her the Canary so she had some peace of mind entering her apartment knowing she would get an alert and/or see who entered on the camera.

I would like to get my younger brother a new graphics card. Last year I build him a cheap pc for his birthday, but now that he's gotten into pc gaming I think it would be cool to upgrade his pc with a new R9 380. Here's the Amazon link! http://www.amazon.com/MSI-R9-380-GAMING-4G/dp/B00ZGF0VGC By the way, thanks for this giveaway!
