Tech Gifts for Non-techies Giveaway!

I would like to buy a surface tablet for my mother because she desires to regain her proficiency on computers but doesn't have the need or desire for a full fledged PC. So a space saving alternative is a tablet, the surface in particular because she desires to relearn how to use a PC specifically.

Gift to my Mom & Dad

Ever since I thought them how to use computer. They've been using PC more often more than TV now but they still using small 17 inches monitor and it's still a vga. This would be the nicest gift for sure because they used pc a lot now more than the TV.

To My Dad, hes actually a Digital Illustrator and hes using this crappy HUION H610 with scratch marks on it and its clearly malfunctioning, sometimes when i visit his workspace i would peek over the doorway to see him actually struggling to use the tablet. At one time he let me use his Tablet and it was badly malfunctioning, pressure not working and even the cursor would teleport somewhere on the screen.

Im actually saving up for a proper tablet for him, Wacom Intuos Pro PTH-651

But with my family having an economy breakdown its kinda hard for me to save anything up

I'd love to get my mom a GPS. She is ABYSMAL at directions and depends way too heavily on printing out Mapquest directions to get where she's going; and forgets the directions at home from time to time.

100% the 2015 google chromecast

My grandparents are stuck with their terrible dumb tvs and need an upgrade.

My grandparents would be extremely grateful and never look back.

I really think this piece of tech is easy to use and super handy.

At first I thought I would go with a Asus Zenfone 2 here, as it is my favourite (but not available here in NL). Then I pictured my girlfriend actually using it, not a good idea.

She's probably not gonna like it as she's just used to the Samsung interface she's running over the last few years. So I would ask a Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, to replace her crap thing the has right now. why the S5 Mini? she's used to a 'small' phone, and loads of covers are for sale  so she won't scratch it like the Asus would have. (no phone, no accesoiries)

that crap thing is a GT5830i, better known as a Galaxy Ace, first generation :(

It replaced her dead Galaxy Gio about 2 years ago, thinking that it was an upgrade, nevertheless it has the same hardware inside.

A new smartphone is on the shortlist; but she thinks all the new smartphones are way to expensive and are to vulnerable.

I would give WD my cloud mirror 4 tb nas:http://www.amazon.com/Mirror-Personal-Network-Attached-Storage/dp/B00ITI05CS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450001423&sr=8-1&keywords=WD+4TB+My+Cloud+Mirror to my parents and my grandparents(they live in semi detached house). With this they could easily backup all their photos, movies and documents. I would give it to them because i have read that its easy enough to me to set up and has automatic back up on it. Also it has raid 1 and wd´s red drives(reliability). My parents and grandparents do not have any backup system for now and thats why i would give them this.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!

I´d get my girlfriend a Zenwatch 2.

She´s not very techy but a watch would be a good intro into our world. It would also be good for her due to her lack of attention to her phone. This would make the gift a gift to everyone trying to contact her. The Zenwatch also just looks nice and won't seem like she's trying to become a cyborg and shock all of her family and relatives.

I'd get both my parents (primarily my mom) this Quantum Byte Fanless Windows Mini Desktop PC. She uses a dated factory-built desktop that is literally slower than a half broken 1995 system. My parents, especially my dad, hates random space being taken up by it sometimes. The cables are a problem for them and while my mom can turn it on and essentially use the basic programs, she's not very savvy with it and my dad barely knows how to use a word processor (southern-born blue collar working person). I think "you accidentally used all 12GB of mobile data" sums up the lack of tech awareness.

In any case, this is perfect for them, since it's faster, it's small and doesn't take up space. It will lower the frustration for them since when their current one doesn't load fast enough, it makes my mom irritable and it will do what they need, plus more. And because I'm getting tired of getting my mom the same old boring cheap gifts for Christmas. As a bonus, we had a flipping tree crash through our garage, so something a little better will brighten my parents' moods up this holiday.

Good luck to everyone else. Pretty sure anyone we're thinking about for gifts is going to be more than surprised.
