Tech Gifts for Non-techies Giveaway!

Since it's on sale, i'm getting my dad a pair of Sennheiser mm550x since he loves music but works with loud machinery. Cables from headphones get in his way when working so he's always bothered by any IEM's i lend him or even proper over the ear headphones.

Well considering my dad is running with a dying C2D Thinkpad I think he could use an upgrade, sadly there wasn't a good option for an all in one

For my brother:

A pair of headphones. He's always looking for headphones to use, and he is hell bent on not buying any. I already have good ones, so I'd like to give him some great ones!

I would get my grandmother an iRoomba Roomba 595 as it would really help out with cleaning her house and would make her do less http://www.amazon.com/iRobot-Roomba-Vacuum-Cleaning-Robot/dp/B009D00R3S/ref=zg_bs_3743561_3

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

I just swapped my parents off ADSL1 to 100mbps Cable. Problem is I cant use the great adsl router anymore and signal from the isp provided one is horrendous (Ive spent so many hours trying to get bridging mode working with 3 different routers, no dice). So to stop my parents complaining and because it's so much easier to set up and diagnose i'd love to get them a set of Ubiquiti Networks Unifi Access points.

http://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-Networks-Enterprise-3-Pack-UAP-3/dp/B00HXT8RDI/ref=sr_1_11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1449385942&sr=1-11&keywords=unifi

(one of my mates has them with the same cable router so I know it works, and works well...reaaaaal well.)

Merry Christmas guys!

My parents have old tv refused too toss it :D. And they allways improvining with some tv set-top box like tv star products. And always comeplaining that they cant watch movies because that device can't support that video format or its 1080p set-top box can't support that resolution. ( And i tried of explaining everytime its happens ) So best pressent for my parrents its NVIDIA SHIELD tv box it can stream video, movies and sometimes my dad can play old games with retro emulation ( and some android )

An Asus RT-AC68U because my parents is using an ISP provided router which provides an awful internet connection and network transfer speed. Here is the link to the product : http://www.amazon.com/RT-AC68U-Wireless-AC1900-Dual-Band-Gigabit-Router/dp/B00FB45SI4/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449533660&sr=1-1&keywords=Asus+router&refinements=p_n_shipping_option-bin%3A3242350011

I would like to get it for them because the ISP provided router does not have gigabit and it's working on a single 2.4ghz band. My parents have a gigabit device connected to the router that doesn't have gigabit. My parents devices surport dual band wireless access but the router surport only one band. The connection speed that the router provide isn't very good my parents get 7mbps upload and download speed but then they subscribe to 10mbps.

Thank you linus media group for this wonderful opportunity for this contest and merry Christmas to linus media group staff and to everyone else.

My mother has started to complain about not having enough room to store all of here pictures on her laptop anymore here recently. I have told that if she needs them saved to bring them to my room and put them on my computer (I have the most local storage out of anyone in the house). She always tells me that she doesn't like to do that because it is a hassle to get back at them once she puts them on my computer. Getting a NAS, this WD My Cloud to be exact, for her and the rest of the house would solve this and many other issues around the house.

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone!

Andrew :D

My father wants to turn all his physical music & video library (VHS) into a digital one (family memories... etc), and doesn't have very reliable external HDDs. He is also requiring my help because doesn't know much about converting files. So I thought of buying a high capacity portable external drive for him this Christmas:

I would get my dad this projector. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FWUQV92/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00FWUQV92&linkCode=as2&tag=ohga-20&linkId=K5JFKPUWZJK2OPHM He really loves movies and throwing parties at our property we own. We have a huge barnside that would be perfect for movies during the summer to watch with family or with friends.

I would get my dad Triple Black Bose QC25 headphones because he travels a lot for work, and it's as simple as turning them on to cancel out the sound of the plane. Also, he could control his iPhone with.

I would get a Nest Learning Thermostat for my friends mom. I've had a lot of issues in my life and she's been there for me to talk to and also I'm her go-to tech guy, (just built her a computer for her other daughter!) Even better, her husband is an architect and she does interior design. I feel like the Nest is a simple product, easy to use. They're not the most technically inclined, however I wouldn't mind guiding them through using it.

Keep up the good work guys!

I would love to gift my parents the Asus OnHub router (or the TP-LINK OnHub router). Almost every time I visit them on my breaks from university, there is always some sort of issue with their current cheap WiFi setup and I end up spending a couple hours troubleshooting things. Time that could be better spend actually visiting!

Can there be multiple things included, as long as it stays under the $300 mark?

If so, then I would get my friends a new motherboard and processor. He has an old AMD dual core processor and it is extremely bottle necked by his R9 380. He knows nothing about computers obviously. xD

WD My Cloud Personal Cloud Storage NAS - 6 TB

to my mum, because she and tbh the rest of the family, find it really hard to put and pull pics and docs and other things to my current nas setup, basically usb hdd connected to router. They need a simplier way to access and back up.

My father died earlier this year and ever since my mom has been getting obsessed with old family pictures and the like. As the system works now there are hundreds of photos in print and multitudes of that digital on what can best be described as a HDD that is lucky to still be running. She doesn't really trust the cloud and getting the pictures from my computer is too much of a hassle for her so I wanted to get her a combination. of a NAS( http://www.amazon.de/Synology-DS214se-DiskStation-Bay-Desktop/dp/B00FWURI8K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449453880&sr=8-1&keywords=DS214se ) running in RAID-1 and using two WD Black HDD's I still have left which would also automatically back things up to my own computer without her ever having to interact with it. To actually see most of these digital pictures(the ones printed would be scanned in) I then would use a digital photoframe linked to the NAS and displaying the pictures in randomized order. This would make the entire process a lot easier and add some security that she(and me to an extent as well) won't end up losing a lot of these memories.

My Build:
