Advice please for first laptop for elderly

7and911
Hello, all.

Just joined the forum and looking for some advice regarding buying a laptop for my 83y old dad who has never used computer (well, I tried with him long year ago but didn't work) now after my mum death he feels lonely and I thought I would try again.

- Budget needs to be under £300 (as he may never use the machine)

- Screen needs to be large (he is short sighted)

- he has dodgy internet connection so chromebook may not be ideal

For my £300 I can get:

A) HP 250:      Pentium Ci5-5200U dual core 2.2GHz 4GB RAM 500GB

B) Lenovo G50-80:      Ci3-4005U dual core 1.7GHz, 6GB RAM,  1TB.

C) Lenovo 305-15iby Ideapad:    Pentium n3540 quad core 2.1GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB

D) Toshiba Satellite L50D-B: AMD A8-6410 quad core 2.1GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB

So the question is which one to go for? I understand for my dad any one of the above will all be fine for him, but which one has potentially less problem (as I live far away from him)

Thank you for your help and I am open for any suggestions and other alternatives

I agree, Windows would probably be too much. iOS is pretty fool proof, so if you can swing it, try to get him an ipad.

Agreed - iPad is the way to go. However, I suggest having him use Chrome instead of Safari. For my grandparents, at least, the bookmarks interface in Chrome was less confusing.

The first one with the i5, but you should get a tablet instead unless he really needs a pc for some reason

Thank you all.

The reason I am against I pad is A) screen size as dad is short sighted. B) not sure how will he cope with touch screen,
