Core 2 Quad Q9400s Overclock

Looking to over my CPU but i just need to know one thing. I am currently running the stock large Intel cooler (shown in the photo), my current room temp is 26*c and my highest CPU core temp is 45*c idle with the rest being under 40*c? Would I be able to get away with any overclock without killing it or should I get an after market cooler?

after market all the way.

What are your load temps?  You will be able to get a small overclock but I wouldn't recommend increasing the voltages until you get an aftermarket cooler.

Depending on the airflow of your case and the ambient temperature, you may be able to get a slight overclock, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you plan to do any decent amount of OCing, get an aftermarket cooler.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Im using Xigmatek Loki SD963 cooler and in motherboard Fan profile is silent. Max temps are 65C under stress idle about 30-35. OCing @ 3.4Ghz using Asus p5k-V with little bit increase Vcore voltage.
