 10 years old HP Compaq NX9420 rocking the hell out of Win 7 with memory upgrade and new (larger) HDD. Serious performance increase after XP, no issus whatsoever. I don't know a single PC that has issues with win 7, and I do a lot of installs. 

Is it running anything older than a Core Duo, though?

What about Windows 7? Because that also runs like shit (especially on older hardware.)

 

It ran much better than vista did on all hardware.

Couldn't agree more. I've been getting a blue screen with the "CPUz_136_NON_PAGED_AREA" whatever that means, I'm also having a host of issues with the NVIDIA SLI drivers, and memory leaks left and right.

Is it running anything older than a Core Duo, though?

 

I'm not home atm but I can c/p you the specs in few days, should be home the day after tomorrow. It's a centrino duo, 1.66 GHz, I'm not sure of the exact model number. Mind you, even MS says that Win 7 was meant to be run on multi cores, so anyone trying to run it on a P4... not sure what they expected. 

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

If it was about issues/bugs that really makes the system not work, I would fully understand.

But do they realize that Microsoft will just go in front of the judge and say: It's not us, it is drivers manufactures (and it is pretty accurate too, same for reduce battery life, and warmer system (as you guessed it: power saving feature doesn't work right due to buggy Win10 drivers)).

So, it won't hold in court for a minute, sadly. Now if they sue the manufactures affected by delivering crappy Win10 drivers, as a cheap way to push newer hardware, than that would hold a lot better, especially if they have proof of this activity.

WHQL hasn't meant much for nVidia's drivers either. I don't really think much of Microsoft's certification process after the drivers that have come out this year.

I believe they test for security, not quality/bug free. They introduce this model, to avoid malware using drivers to gain admin privileges, and not show up as a process in the Task Manager, and makes it even hardware for anti-malware, and anti-virus to remove it.

It doesn't say testing for quality, or testing for security or both or test for compatibility problems or test if it installs correctly on the system.

yah my start menue freezes and i cant do anything with it, happens rarely and is just a good reminder that i should probably turn off my pc instead of using hypersleep xD

This happens to me a lot when she sleeps for days and I wake it up then mess with control panel and boom, frozen.

Except W10 is really pushing you to upgrade it. MS didn't just release it. They are doing their best to get everyone on it. It even automatically upgraded your computer for a bit when It was checked by default in the updater.

 

It recently popped up asking if I wanted to upgrade now, or do it later. I clicked later and it instantly rebooted and started installing....

First issue after upgrade was all my radiator fans went insane because it broke Corsair Link, and refused to see my external RAID arrays. Had to go into safe mode and clean out old drivers, and sort it out.

The average user wouldn't have a clue about what Safe Mode even is, let alone driver installs. So a forced Upgrade to Windows 10 can really mess with them.

 

I can't even put me system to sleep because once it wakes up it refuses to see any of my external drives at all. Only a reboot fixes that :/

Other than those it's been okay so far.

This is so bs...how can they even prove poor system performance in court? All the rest are just issues that can and will eventually happen , and which can be fixed. Also...they agreed to the EULA so...what's the point really?

I actually have an issue where I need to reinstall the sound drivers on my notebook every so often (although I suppose that may be related to the fact it's a vista era laptop)

I have had only two issues with Win10; one was during the Preview builds, which doesn't count and the second was with Edge after the official release and that has been mostly dealt with.

I have seen only improved function and performance using Win10. 

There are some minor issue with a few drivers (very minor) that I have but those are somewhat expected since it is still year one of the OS.

I think people need to read the article more carefully. They are not saying system performance as in "I get less FPS". They mean system performance as in "I have lost access to my computer", "files has been deleted", "sound no longer works" and so on.

Trying to sue them for just having lower FPS would not work at all. With the claims they are making there might be some validity to it.

I think there was an issue similar with the Win7 updates as well. I didn't as I don't do updates (WIn10 having been my first time using an update vs clean install) but I remember hearing of this. Nobody made a big issue of it at the time like today though that I can remember.

biggest issue is task manager sometimes crashes - something abit wrong if ctrl alt del stops working ?

Some people were forced onto it and other people assumed that because their computer told them MS recommended they upgrade for a "great new OS" that it would all work out. Now they have lost files and/or no sound and/or lost access to the computer as a whole. Normal people don't usually upgrade the OS so they have no idea how to deal with these issues. They won't know what a driver is. Most of them won't have backups or know how to do a fresh install or go into safe mode (something that apparently is not easy to do on W10). These are the people that are being effected by this, not the users of a tech forum although if this happened to me I would still be pissed.
