It's time to pick week 66's series! As usual the poll will be up for 48-ish hours.

Hibike! Euphonium
Current

This series was recommended by @DigitalHermit saying "It's a light one focusing on character development... sort of... The animation is beautiful, but the story leaves a lot to viewer speculation... (may include implied yuri)"

Synopsis

After swearing off music due to an incident at the middle school regional brass band competition, euphonist Kumiko Oumae enters high school hoping for a fresh start. As fate would have it, she ends up being surrounded by people with an interest in the high school brass band. Kumiko finds the motivation she needs to make music once more with the help of her bandmates, some of whom are new like novice tubist Hazuki Katou; veteran contrabassist Sapphire Kawashima; and band vice president and fellow euphonist Asuka Tanaka. Others are old friends, like Kumiko's childhood friend and hornist-turned-trombonist Shuuichi Tsukamoto, and trumpeter and bandmate from middle school, Reina Kousaka.

However, in the band itself, chaos reigns supreme. Despite their intention to qualify for the national band competition, as they currently are, just competing in the local festival will be a challenge—unless the new band advisor Noboru Taki does something about it.

From the studio that animated Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, Kyoto Animation's Hibike! Euphonium is a fresh and musical take on the slice-of-life staple that is the high school student's struggle to deal with their past, find romance, and realize their dreams and aspirations.

This series was recommended by @Xsinar saying "The animations are bad, but the story is bad-ass"

Synopsis
In the Warring States Period of ancient China (475-221 BCE), Shin and Hyou are war-orphans in the kingdom of Qin. They dream of one day proving themselves on the battlefield. One day, however, Hyou is taken to the palace by a minister. Winding up on the losing side of a power-struggle, Hyou manages to return to the village, barely alive. Shin then meets a boy who closely resembles Hyou, Ei Sei. For now he is the king of Qin; later he will become the emperor Shi Huangdi.

Gurren Lagann
Post-2007

This series was recommended by @gastew15 saying "Again, this is one of those anime's that if you haven't seen them I'd be mightily surprised. Gurren Lagann takes place in a far away future in which humans live underground in fear of what lies above. The story follows Simon, Kamina, and a girl with a big gun(and other things) on their journey to defeat the Beast-men and take back control of the surface. To be completely honest this is another of the greats that's just so good and captures you that you almost can't even explain it.. I Give it all of the awards and throw it into the best animes of all time, and if you haven't watched it you need to stop whatever you're doing and watch it right now! (Characters, awesome, Sound Track, awesome, Story, simple, yet amazing at the same time, Everything else, it's Gurren Lagann!)"

Synopsis

In a faraway future, mankind lives underground in huge caves, unknowing of a world above with a sky and stars.

In the small village of Jiha, Simon, a shy boy who works as a digger discovers a strange glowing object during excavation. The enterprising Kamina, a young man with a pair of rakish sunglasses and the passion of a fiery sun, befriends Simon and forms a small band of brothers, the Gurren Brigade, to escape the village and break through the ceiling of the cave to reach the surface, which few believe exist.

The village elder won't hear of such foolishness and punishes the Brigade. However, when disaster strikes from the world above and the entire village is in jeopardy, it's up to Simon, Kamina, a girl with a big gun named Yoko, and the small yet sturdy robot, Lagann, to save the day.

The new friends journey to the world above and find that the surface is a harsh battlefield, and it's up to them to fight back against the rampaging Beastmen to turn the tide in the humans' favor! Pierce the heavens, Gurren Lagann!

Katanagatari
Random

This series was recommended by @eelnico09 "Is not your typical action anime for sure, and by that i mean it's better. Good quality dialogue, very good story, each episode is around 40 minutes long so you get really into the episode once you start watching. I didn't notice any cliche, or repetitive situation. You won't see this anime and thing "i've seen this on many other action animes", guaranteed. Beautiful artstyle, amazing story, great characters and character progression, no stupid cliches everyone's seen before. Also, some people liked the ending, some people didn't mind, some people didn't like the ending. I think it's a great anime, is not a masterpiece but you won't regret watching it."

Synopsis

Long ago the masterful swordsmith Shikizaki Kiki crafted 1000 blades, though his twelve final works, the legendary deviant blades were prime among the rest. All with uniquely defined traits, these swords are among the greatest in Japan.

Leap forward many decades and arrive at an isolated island, where Yasuri Shichika and his older sister Nanami reside.

Togame: A woman with long, white hair and the talent as a strategist begins a quest with Shichika in order to collect the twelve blades. They must face the blade wielders in intense battles while they learn more about themselves and their real goals and wishes.

Shichika has yet to realize what he really inherits as a Kyoutoryuu sword...

Man, fuck euphonium. I hate that show and its stupid melodramatic bullshit. I've seen so many people say how it accurately describes band (I guess if your band was full of babies, had a hint of yuri, wasn't a meritocracy(not that schools care about merit anymore anyway)...). Its fucking stupid. Never once in my days in band class was there so much melodrama.

Now that I got that off my chest, I see a lot of people saying good things about gurren lagann, so I'd like to see that.

Old shit no one cares about but me.

I am such a fan of Gurren Lagann I had to get a picture with the English VA of Kamina, so I tracked him down and ...  He proclaimed who the hell he though he was also.

(Still more of a fan of Konishi's Kamina, but don't tell Kyle that.)

Gonna vote for the obvious choice here. Gurren Lagann.
Though I did also enjoy Katanagatari, it falls short to Gurren Lagann.

As for the others, I'm not a fan of the genre (music, historical). I also do not care for anime that seems to be fanservice centered.

@MyInnerFred half the "MAL" link either lead to the wrong anime, or just plain wrong with two links in one on it. (One on the M, another one on the AL)

Am I the only one who carefully considers what to vote for but then never watch after the fact?

You gotta do you girl. I always say you gotta do you. And if he's doing him, then who's doing you? Because right now, it seems like no one's doing you.
