It won't cause any damage. No reason it should.

It doesn't have as many grounds.

 

You should not do this, as it will kill the GPU slowly over time.

Yes.

If you were meant to put just a 6 pin into an 8 pin port (read:leaving 2 empty), wouldn't it just be a 6pin?
