France Has A New Controversial Surveillance Law

Guest

Most of this was already planned anyway.

-Those box are one more step that was already planned.

-The ismi catchers are already in use in many places 24/7.

This is how they know where, when you were at a place.

They can even know who you called and what you said.

- Breaking into home is already used and not only for terrorist.

The new law just make the cops able to do it without asking a judge first.

The only thing that change is the spy thing wich is good imo and wasn't allowed before.

En bref

Politics will just spy each others as usual.

Like the hadopi thing, "don't download illegaly or we will send you a letter !!!"

That won't change much for random people.

Instead of spying on everyone trying to find them why not wipe out the people influencing them? I mean we have neutron bombs and hydrogen bombs.

Because France won't Nuke civilians.

I wish i could oc my body, during winter overheating would be great.

Because we can't just wipe every muslim from the side of the earth maybe ?

Or is it because 99+% are not terrorists ?

to be honest

what disturbed me more is that i knew France would push these laws that will do more harm to france's future that what terrorists could ever do.

this is just  the beginning :/

Nope they may not have been successful, but why give them the chance to be....look what happened in Paris.

Targeted surveillance is needed, if you are a law abiding citizen your data will never be looked at, the shear volume of data that is being collected is impossible for them to even scratch the surface going through, they will have key words they will look for, and will more than likely targeting Arabic text more than European text.

Unfortunately we live in a dangerous time now, what happened in Paris can not be allowed to happen again, if that means sacrificing a little privacy, and the billion billion to one chance MI6 is going to look at my pornhub history so be it.

If targetted surveilannce is needed, then mass data mining isn't needed. I think you are confused about what mass data collection actually entails. The government has no way to selectively filter what data they see in those circumstances; the only way to know if a particular piece of data is relevant is to look at it.

As has been pointed out be myself and others, mass surveilannce and border control are no better than security theater.

Like many others here, I too want to show my absolute disdain for this law. It is useless and it will only infringe on our liberties more and more.

But I understand the goverent wanting to show some populist measure that appeases the simple minded. Mass surveilance, close borders.

It is a lot easier than to tackle the real issues that led to these attacks like inequality and underlying racism.

Bingo! Taking military action against these people is just going to make the situation worse. Unless anyone wants to argue that Iraq and Afghanistan turned out for the better?

The bad thing is, that the same thing may happen in Norway too, more info is coming later, but PST in Norway(Police Security Service) may be able to do more surveillance. I dunno in what form tho. After what litle info it is, it seems that it may only be surveillance of refugees coming to Norway, and not everyone.

It matters that you don't just give up.”
