I am thinking about cuting out big piece, and then sanding it down to make good edges. after that to make thick wood frame and screw it on that, then screw wood frame on case. can wood do me trick here?

I don't know how good it would look because it would clearly show that its wood. also, it might be too heavy and cause it to tip over.

Out of curiosity how would I go about swapping out the LED's in my Corsair fans? As the standard green doesn't fit my theme in anyway as I'm going for a white and lime green theme.

Only mod I have done so far is my case lights. :)
However, I am currently working on a PSU shroud and as soon as I get some black spray paint I'm going to spray paint the housing of those two Noctua NF-F12 fans you see there. Just to make sure you guys don't freak out about painting the fans... I said housing. Not the blades, the housing. From what I've read and from what multiple people have said it seems to be completely safe. I'll be sure to tape the fans completely so I don't accidentally get any paint on them.

Hello guys!!

Long time fan of LTT here, but only just now that I had the guts to register and post my first thingy.

Project name: Custom Desktop case for a music studio.

After some long nights of brainstorming, we decided upon modding a Bass drum.

This is what a bass drum looks like for those who didn't know.

Av-kKrFnDQ2-aQk2EjVJTnhlFphX6jiPyKuKPpWW

After looking around for some references of already built ones, i was left very unsatisfied with the only few models already done. they were too random, too 'un-wow'-ish

On with it :D

First, to study how this bass drum actually fit together, 'pre-mod'. Pretty basic. a empty wood cylinder from inside, with two platic sheets with a metal cap, pressed by another bigger metal cylinder.

After sketching some incomprehensible stuff on some old napkin lying around,

AnBKxFLwOG8LouIgcia_JpcLH_Jn7UTMuACGyfIPAv9tBy60Z-XekK4sVPWBzFmBRbvbP745QriTKXCB

How to reproduce that cover thing, while keeping the aspect of the bass drum? i decided to keep the black metal cylinder, but recreate the other piece with Plexiglas. I drew two cylinder, one to fit in the metal cylinder, and the other as larger edge below it, for the metal cylinder to bite on and push it into position.

Designed them on Autocad

acad.jpg.ff9f45bd274b8256632c8b2ee407285

then forward to the bookshop to lazer cut these babies

Ak0D6tFyYhodL1wfFTrA8QLvF5ZtHa9jl_lKa3iaApKTO6iwCWtmYzD__STYygDAnToTFFDiBZk75ZMa

So, for the covers, the back one i did a full opaque black Plexiglas, with a hole for a 23mm fan

Aqd_YjKLwpjbS-1t2inzrbbgLI-SH_A8-yemuxEi

the front one i went for a tinted back one to give a nice look when the led's inside would go on

AsDZpMyNVtbtuPoozJf1NlW0oTB9Zdriw_NBJjsP

(yea, i forgot the S on productions. going to have to add it as vinyl sticker later on... perks of designing stuff at 4am...)

Now, onto the case specifics. I wanted the whole build to have some kind of cool 'futuristic' aspect, and didn't want to just screw the parts all around the edges of the case. so I went and installed 2x 3mm metal vertical stems in the middle of the case, screwing them both sides with bolts and cutting off the remaining length .

AjhkDsW3xfVwVEOO11YZ8MYR15ufSNzOT3Smk97pAg-nFVaqNp8gZYY0oSMzPMdcWoKzzELNpPejj5tRAjwFWR2rK5JhGY867eXOAGSOgRLHP2tcE8Rh2gmCAv1RK66BNQRWh8fWNkEOx17ZLzQg8pIGG9U2KdNA

P.s: That's NOT me :P just a friend helping out with the heavy work ^.^

I needed some parts from an actual case, such as the Motherboard back plate, and the HDD tray, so i went and bought the cheapest 'modular' case I could find.

That's before

Ak09JLfkLD6kfqTAKyJWFlx61fM169AV-DxGmF-y

and that's after

Ai_SSLUcg0V31wG2bkGPnIw5J9tKE2GTCc4mOR8d

to save some space and make it look even better, i screwed the HDD tray on the back of the back plate, to get to this

AsQGm8MQXrRQtj1RYFilDbYRljSMcG9gve8w6ZtR

and since the self-levitating PSU has not yet been invented (sadly :( ) i had to come out with one extra piece of design to support the PSU. Another piece of Plexiglas that i had to hold on top of the fire for around 15 minutes to be able to bend it... damn 5 mm thickness...

AnxwBASgiz5OjrooP-qj6-A-Sq9RtUAPp2Br6IHaAq-M4tFw8DcL4b6HOCB_hC--U34As3Um6cSXxmKG

i screwed it on the back plate just where the PSU would usually be.

Then i added some RGB led strips to the back of the case

Ao5QHfuBAMfwJydRYHSkZW2AChLQUh7gROhRdThWAv-jrVZ0j5wc5l2__7H_Atb_oURKBtoGVqJ8SKkv

and the rest was just getting all the pieces together, for a result of:

AhDxSX_3O02YrEh5A_Bn-bWNgK0gG9JPc9a9YrNqAkm_ssabernrDvRb12zw14KKM7dkQuR9uhMQ3utJ

Hope you guys liked

Really hope i posted it on the right section/topic of the forum... this one bugs me quite a lot

Waiting for your comments :)

Hi, i'm new here. just got into watching LTT videos and it got me pretty excited to post something here.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this(help me?if it's wrong).

But i think the way this guy mod PCs is pretty sick and he generally gives good guidance & tuts

I thought it might be of any help in finishing this ultimate guide / tutorial.

check out this playlist on moddings.

I just read this topic and got a great idea how to "mod" my old pc case(http://www.techtradeoutlet.com/ebayPictures/Desktops/IBM/Lenovo_Thinkcentre-M57P.jpg), my new one is a terrible even tho it is bigger and only 2 yrs old, with some orange and black carbon fiber foil(http://image.motortrend.com/f/wot/artega-sports-car-maker-facing-bankruptcy-228411/59267815+w670+h419+cr1+ar0/artega-gt-orange-metallic-carbon-fiber-hood-detail-1.jpg), orange leds, 2 fans and some metal switches for my fans(http://images.lowes.com/product/converted/039008/039008774026lg.jpg). But that case is old and doesn't have cable management space nor can I remove the other side panel so I would like to hear some suggestions from you.

In my latest PC build, I took it upon myself to custom paint the steel inserts in a Corsair Air 240 case.

I think it looks rather snazzy, and wish more case manufacturer's made it easier to disassemble their cases.

For full pictures, visit the forum post denoting my build@jusxusfanatic also painted his Air 240 too.

So, maybe 10 months ago i had the idea of building my pc on some sort of drawer, i saw it somewhere and liked it, everything is custom, the table, the triple monitor base etc, so here are a few pictures, worked on it today (06/24/17):

First pictures are my ideas on Sketchup.

http://imgur.com/a/097MF

it needs a lot of finishing touches, i dont even know if im gonna stick with this one or rebuild it, it is currently being all held by 7 screws and nothing else, still need to glue it, not finished painting, and need to put some rails on it so it can become an actual drawer, because right now it obviosly is not.
