Germany and Japans amazing recovery

how is it that after being crushed in world war 2 resulting in the economies destroyed,infrasturture ruined and reparations to pay to rest of the world, they manage to be the world top 5 economies in the world japan -3rd largest and germany - 4th........

 

plz post your thoughts and suggestions

They had smart people who were willing to invest in those countries, and in turn, built them

Mainly because the countries that crushed them decided to uplift them afterwards.

 

As opposed to modern day conflicts, where we use the least amount of force possible (relatively speaking) and thus provide the least amount of aid possible.

If I understand correctly there is some convincing evidence that the bombing was primarily to scare Russia...  Apparently the US had information that Japan was already planning to surrender.

Yep, necessary evils. Hate 'em or love 'em, they're needed. A weapon of mass destruction would set any country straight.

If we were so worried about the USSR, we would have dropped the bomb on Stalin, as well as making Patton Supreme Allied Commander instead of that pussy Eisenhower. We'd have turned the Germans and Japanese right around and conquered the USSR, and skipped the entire cold war.

 

The allies did not win WW2, the USSR DID.

true indeed.  Infact from a "moral obligation" standpoint we should have sided with germany against russia as Stalin killed far more people than Hitler... Theres a lot of confusing stuff surrounding the situation

China killed even more people than Stalin and Hitler combined, and yet we allied with them.

 

The end of WW2 was kind of fucked up when you think about it. The only thing that really happened is we dropped A bombs on Japan, and Germany killed a, "relatively insignificant amount of people". Not that I am trying to downplay the holocaust. Reading about some of it and watching interviews with GA soldiers who were in the death camps made me sick, but knowing that, and knowing how many people the communists killed makes me even more sick.

Also, harsh thing to say but if it weren't for the attacks on pearl harbor the US wouldn't have been involved. Which probably was one of the many reasons the Allies won WWII...

no actually they had a justfied reason, the US sactioned a lot of basic goods like petrol and stuff with the help of the US navy....

That is not why Japan did that.

Japan was a militaristic nation if there ever was one. The U.S. WAS they're only capable match. The British navy in the pacific (as we saw) stood no chance. They underestimated the Chinese. The rest in the area would put up a hell of a fight but in the end wouldn't be able to keep up. The U.S. was the only serious threat to them and they knew it.

Even when they did attack Pearl Harbor many in the upper command didn't *really* want to, that was Hitler's decision.

If they wanted to retaliate for resources, they'd would have attacked our refineries, our oil reserves, etc.. But they left all of that pretty much unscathed. They went for the battleships because those were the biggest threat (in their eyes anyways) towards their navy. It was an entirely militaristic and culturally influenced action. Oil fields were, if anything, just a small reason.

The reason they are such huge manufacturing giants is because they are/were almost purely capitalist.

As for the reason they rebuilt so fast, is mainly because they had alot of help from the US and other now NATO countries, as well as a fresh slate to build a modernized society on.

Kinda like building a new PC rather than trying to upgrade a 1995 crapbox.
