NZXT Launches HUE+ (Now with a review)

NZXT has launched the HUE+ digital lighting solution for PCs. The HUE+ box is an advanced lighting device, with dual independent channel lighting output, capable of addressing up to eight LED strips. It can be controlled by NZXT's CAM software and includes 'smart' functionality, reacting to PC system condition changes and/or audio.

 

 

"Lighting can truly bring your system to a new visual dimension, that’s why most of our cases provide windowed-panels. With a smart, easy-to use digital interface such as CAM, available for everyone as a free app, HUE+ offers unmatched control and customization for users seeking to bring their PC to the next level," said Johnny Hou, NZXT’s founder and CEO, at the device launch.

The NZXT HUE+ requires 5V of DC power and connects to your PC via USB. NZXT has designed so it's not just another black box; the faceted design includes its own swash of LED lighting. The two LED lighting channel connectors can control up to four LED strips each, making a total capacity of eight for your system with a HUE+ installed. In the package you will get four LED strips included (either magnetically attachable, or with 3M tape option) plus four extension cables of various lengths to aid in LED positioning throughout your system.

 

 

Honestly, this is neat as hell, and it is a shame i have a NZXT Phantom 820, because it has inbuilt lights, which prolly wont work with this thing. But given its price, and the abilities of this system. man, i LOVE IT...

Its sort of like Ambilight that comes with Panasonic TVs (think it was Panasonic)...

 

Anways, i think its neat, i think its affordable. What do you guys think?

Does this screw into the 3.5" bay? If so, thats a brilliant idea. A lot of people probably have spare ones, and generally they have great rear cable access making routing easier.

it uses their CAM software, and should let you fine tune the fan settings.

you need space for the LED drivers. If it is one color, its NP just connecting power to the strip. But once you use RGB LEDs then you NEED a driver regardless.

Drivers take space.

They are pretty good, right up there with CM and Fractal Design in terms of quality and functionality.

I'm just quickly checking the thread, so sorry if it has been mentioned - what about the price?

I'm planning to get H440 for my PC. This would be nice addition to it.
