Depends what kind of zombie apocalypse, if it's the most realistic scenario where it's just reanimated hmeat-seeking corpses, probably not to difficult.

If it's more like L4D then we're probably all screwed.

We talking Shaun of the Dead or Left4Dead here?

If it's Shaun of the Dead I'm 150% fine

If it's L4D I'm going to need more bullets

Agreed.

I'm efficient with fire arms, but when it comes to mele weapons the only thing that I know how to use is a bat so if they are like L4D, once I'm out of ammo, I'm fucked. :D

melee is actually my specialty. I seemed to have quite the affinity so my MA instructor decided I'd take that path. Unfortunately I had quite a bit of a falling out with the guy and he's pretty much the only one in Eastern Europe that is licensed to train people in the particular fighting style I started with. That's not to say that I don't practice anymore, even with the very limited free time I have these days.

I need to get myself a firearms permit so I can get my guns from my uncle's hunting cabinet but it's retardedly expensive these days so that'll have to wait. Best I can do is steel bearing balls in modded airsoft rifles. Their accuracy is meh-ish but I've learned how to compensate even with the crappy sights that are more of a form over function thing on them. Small arms I'm fine with, same with scatter weapons. It's just the long-range I'm sort of worried about. Just spray'n'pray

It's settled. You will do all mele combat, I will do the shooting since I have quite a few rifles and guns! And I have a permit for all of them, but don't worry, once the zombies start coming, no one will care about permits anyway, so you are good to go! xD

I live in the country, we have a diesel generator that can power our entire house (can be run on bio-diesel, and unlike petrol diesel does not go off) our entire property is fenced, we live on a freshwater lake full of salmon, have wood stoves, a stockpile of food, a garden, two pellet guns and lots of pheasants and critters around to eat. We also have two diesel pickup trucks. For weapons we've got 4 axes (one is even carbon fiber ;o) and lots of tools to make other weapons even. We do have a gun although its from the 1800s.. I guess we could put blanks in it just too scare people.

Sooo yea if something like that were to happen I feel like me and my family would be pretty well off..

Serbia ain't that far away from here. Hell, we're neighbors. Could just get a car off the street, hotwire it and drive down there. Shouldn't be more than a couple thousand km. Should be able to do that with a couple tanks of gas. I'm thinking armored van. Not too great on speed but if the armor is done properly it'll be like a tank. Add some sort of extra fuel reservoir and refueling would be less often. Plus there's the actual space in the thing. Or maybe a badass armored bus, maybe even one of those eco-mumbo-jumbo buses, since they're more fuel efficient. Replace those crappy windows with quarter inch steel plating, remove all the unnecessary seating, bar up the windshield, add some knee cappers and you've got yourself a pretty nifty mobile zombie-proofed fortress. Should prolly find a way to manage the tires, though, since they're huge chunks of exposed weakpoints

Reason why I'd want a gun permit is so I could actually keep my firearms at home and not at my uncle's, 200-odd km away.

During a zombie Apocalypse there would be a point that tips survival for those on the living side. If zombies in large numbers could no longer gain access to food sooner or later they'd begin to weaken and unable to move, there bodies would naturally rot and waste away. So perhaps after 6-12months and after reaching a Level 1 (HAN) than we would begin to see a rapid decline in new infections and outbreaks and mankind would quickly begin to regain control.

This is how I believe it could play out. For those interested this is not fiction either, the US Government has run though a plan "CONOP 8888" highlighting the risks and containment measures of such a disaster. Such as disaster could easily happen through many a common viral infection we have today, say for instance rabies, if it were to become transmissible (human-human) via touch or air, the common flu in some kind of a mutation. An even more frightening and most probable outcome in a biological weapon released in a major city, terrorist or countries in the past have not hesitated to do this.

Personally the way we're headed, I think a zombie Apocalypse is the least of our concerns.

Not for long, that's for sure.

There's not many firearms in here despite living in a semi-rural village, also not too many long enough tools to be used as weapons. All I have is a small axe, a wooden staff, and a wakizashi that most likely won't last many hits due to poor construction (it's also blunt) So probably my best bet is to attach a knife to the end of the staff to use as a makeshift spear...

As for food supply... Without stores running, there wouldn't be anything, so pretty sure people would either start moving out or start using others' foods (whether acquired by trading or force). The water that flows in the rivers that run in here are relatively clean, but still require some processing before it could be drank safely.

This settlement isn't large; only less than 3000 people live here, and quite a lot of people are connected together by different means, so they might make temporary alliances. I however, am entirely on my own when it comes to survival, so will most likely be among the first ones to die.

Short version: I am f*cked.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

First of all, the chances that I would make it out of my city would be slim to low as my family would not take my advice.

Second, I would die eventually, wich would be classified as "not surviving the zombie acopolycplse". Be it from natural causes, dehydration, or the all commom zombie.
