Thumb up for the video @nicklmg . Great to see that you guys included as many AMD cards in each price bracket you had on hand AND that their offerings are competing well with nVidia. 

 

Being slightly pedantic here, but when I played through the beta and even watching the video, I see too much texture 'pop in' which once I noticed it, started to get annoyed with.. nothing as bad as GTA 5 though. 

 

Now if i could figure out AMD Overdrive, I should be able to get my R9 290 to perform as good as the R9 390.

Not only that - Nano almost the same as a 980 Ti - I wonder why Fury X wasn't shown tho. IIRC in Digital Foundry's video on the matter it was ahead.

Still can't find any recent 290X benchmarks sadly, I wanted to see if my overclocked 290X performs as a stock 390X if they're close to each other in FPS, but all of the 290X benches are old, with old drivers that were shit, it should be nearly as good as the 390X right now, the same GPU-chip is used there...

The guys in the review would have to use an FX-8350 for the results to be reliable :P

Use games that are fine with multicore CPUs - Witcher 3 uses all 8 cores :P

Thanks! But us using AMD cards shouldn't be a surprise... we always do in videos like this. The whole "Nvidia fanboy" crap gets way overblown :P

We all know that Linus is paid off by Nvidia to say good things....why else would Linus have been covering/hosting Mod24. And why would Luke have gone to one of Nvidia's secret meetings where they claim to be launching something cool, but in reality are just working out the buyouts for the various Nvidia promoters.

What setup was Luke using in terms CPU and ram?  I'm sure it was probably a high end Haswell-E or Skylake but would be nice to know for comparison.  I have a 270x 2GB running with an FX-6100 OC'd to 4GHz and 8GB of ram.  Would you all expect high settings at something playable at 1080p?  Great video though, I'm happy to see even lower mid or whatever you consider the 270x can probably handle the game on ultra given a good setup.

Happy that a 290 will get 46 FPS in 4k hoping my 290x will do slightly better

I was shocked to see even 4600 iGPU playing the game at 1080p when Alpha was out.

 

Can't wait for release. Game is really fun. :)
