How to lower pc noise

My pc makes a sh*t ton of noise when I boot up any graphic intensive game. I have a small hp pc that I upgraded and most notably after putting my new graphics card I started to hear a huge difference. It's the xfx r7 260x 1GB and it's a very small card. I also have a very small case. Is there anything I can do to lower the sound level besides cranking up my headphones? I like to play gta 5 with friends on it aswell... pls help almighty LTT-forum gods!

Thanks in advance,

That13thGuy

It's the graphics card. I replaced the old power supply with a cx430w and, before that swap, the noise was the same.

I wouldn't let the temperature go beyond 90*C

If it's running too hot, the fans will increase their RPM - increasing noise. You might be able to solve this by improving the airflow inside of your case. Some things you can do:

  • Clean out your dust filters.
  • Add more intake/exhaust fans.
  • Get proper cable management done to prevent cables from blocking airflow.
  • Maybe the heatsink isn't correctly seated on the GPU, you might need to look into this.
  • Turning on Vsync inside games, as it limits the amount of FPS to make sure your GPU isn't doing unnecessary work.
  • Google other things.

Thanks! I allready noticed that v-sync helped and I have it enabled on most games. Even on gta 5 I have the v-sync halfed because I'd rather have smooth 30FPS and it lowers the sound just a bit. I will also google some stuff. thanks!
