Scion iA and Toyota Yaris, Has Toyota Officially Shat Themselves?

The pictures speak for themselves. I know there was collaboration between Mazda and Toyota to create the new Yaris; but boy, were we in for a shock.

What are your thoughts on Toyota's "new" vehicle? I'm baffled because both vehicles are competing in the same segment.

Edit: Just look at the Fiat Florin, Peugeot Bipper, and the Citroën Nemo. You can honestly tell me that those are any different. Can you?

I guess I dont see the news here. Look at the GMC Sierra, and the Chevrolet Silverado. This is very common to produce the same car under two different titles.

Back in 2010:

 

Ford Explorer = Mercury Mountaineer

Ford Escape = Mercury Mariner

Ford Crown Victoria = Mercury Grand Marquis

Ford Taurus = Mercury Sable

Ford Fusion = Mercury Milan

 

The Mercury cars are exactly the same, just with a few extra luxury features.
