ProxyHouse torrent site proxies go offline

Major torrent site proxy network has gone down, many suspecting it is due to law enforcement.

The sites helped users bypass cruel censorship, and annoyed copyright holders to no end.

 

 

ProxyHouse and other reverse proxy operations have risen in popularity in recent years following several court rulings around the world that aimed to tackle the issue of online piracy. The UK, France, and Italy have all seen sites like The Pirate Bay blocked in their jurisdictions after Internet Service Providers (ISPs) were ordered to prevent their users from accessing the sites. - International Business Times

 

While the operators of the sites cannot be found, one of them said this to torrentfreak in a previous article.

 

 

"At the moment, we are running over 17,000 proxy sites for Kickass Torrents, ThePirateBay, YTS, ExtraTorrent and 1337x," ProxyHouse told Torrent Freak earlier this year. "By providing a lot of different domains, we are giving people the option to still access torrent sites." - TorrentFreak

 

Although now we have some insight to the operators of the original torrent sites

 

 

In fact, most torrent site operators are happy to see them gone, as they believe that these ‘unauthorized’ proxies were ‘stealing’ their revenue. - TorrentFreak

This statement is just hilarious to me.  Considering the nature of most of these torrents.  Pirates complaining about other people stealing their revenue they gain from stealing other people's revenue. 

 

"They are stealing what we rightfully stole first!"   That is what I am hearing. 

 

(yah yah piracy isn't theft, tell it to the new TPP/TTIP)
