GTX 970 SLI vs GTX 980Ti

I need a second opinion on what you would choose. Keep in mind that selling my current GTX 970 is not an option for me.

 

Option 1 

• PNY GTX 980Ti $620
• EK-FC Titan X - Acetal + Nickel $126
• EK-FC Titan X Backplate $35
• TOTAL: $781

 

Option2 (SLI w/ Current GTX970)

• Gigabyte GTX 970 WF3 $350
• EK-FC970  GTX WF3 - Acetal + Nickel $126
• EK-FC970 GTX WF3 Backplate $35
• TOTAL: $511

So what do you think, is the $270 price difference worth it?

The 970's are more powerful combined. If you already have one, get another one, it's cheaper. If you didn't have one I'd recommend either R9 390/290X crossfire or a 980Ti.

Btw. if you get a 980Ti you won't be able to use your current 970 so why selling it is out of the question?

Some games don't support SLI/Cross-Fire think about it that way + you can always SLI 980 TI's

Any glaring issues with that setup? Such as stuttering in games or such?

I already invested $160 worth of watercooling components on it and it would be pretty difficult to sell a GTX 970 with a waterblock already on it.

No stuttering whatsoever. I had 3 way and it performed great.

While yes 2 970s are faster than 1 980ti, there are SLI issues with some games. One I have personally encountered is CS:GO, that game HATES SLI, at least for me. It runs worse and stutters like crap even with GSync running. Granted one of either GPU is more than enough for CS:GO it gets annoying turning it off before you play and then remembering to reactivate it later.

 

However if you already have a 970 and NEED more performance I would just not bother getting a new GPU since you said you are unable to sell it and just get another and SLI, I got a second 770 off EVGA B-Stock just for the hell of it and I really only enable SLI when I know I need it and the game doesn't have problems with SLI
