Posted August 13, 2013 Hi guys, I am currently pricing up a new system and am unsure whether to get a A10-6800k or to buy a 4670k with the possibility of expanding in future. I will be using Integrated graphics for a few weeks until I can afford a gtx 760. I already have some cases, PSU and HDD lying around but am unsure of what to purchase. Here are the builds: Haswell: CPU: 4670k Mobo: MSI z87-g45 Gaming RAM: 1600MHz Richland: CPU: A10-6800k Mobo: Asrock FM2A85X Extreme6 RAM: 1600MHz I will be adding to them as and when I receive money but would appreciate any recommendations you may have. Thank you for reading. Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/45582-apu-vs-haswell-base-system/ Share on other sites
 Posted August 13, 2013 Those aren't in the same catagory it would be 8350 vs 4670k. I would say 8350 if you are on a budget. Also wait for 9XXX series. Posted August 13, 2013 its useless basing your system off of intergrated if your getting a 760...the haswell has more than enough intergrated gpu power to play far cry 3 blood dragon at 720....youll be bale to play basically any game at 720 low medium.....some at high with the 4670k.... -Anubikai | i5-4670k at stock until I do a custom WC loop | H80i | Asus Matrix Platinum 7970 at stock until I do a custom WC loop | MSI Z87 GD65 | 1TB CAVIAR BLACK | 250gb Blue Scorpio | HX750 80 PLUS GOLD modular | 16GB INTEL EXTREME EDITION PATRIOT 1866MHZ | Coolermaster Storm Enforcer with two Red 20cm fans intake and exhaust | Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/45582-apu-vs-haswell-base-system/#findComment-599907 Share on other sites
 Posted August 13, 2013 Haswell build. Since you are getting a GPU later on. The 4670k is a lot stronger than the 6800k. | GPU: GT 650M | CPU: i5-3210M | Excuse my language, sometimes I can be pretty vulgar. Posted August 13, 2013 TBH, Haswell is kind of overpriced. Plus, it's like comparing apples to oranges in this comparison. Either compare the 8350 vs a non K 4th gen Intel or compare something intel to intel. But to answer your question, I would go with the A10 if you're on a budget, 4670K if you're wanting performance. The FX line may be dead soon, and will be replaced by APUs, so maybe it isn't a bad idea. FM2 is dead. if you want a better performing cpu than that low end athlon x4 what will you do ? nothing. from 5800K to 6800K the performance gain was like what ? 5% on cpu and 10% on gpu ? also do not buy an apu if you know you will add a gpu later. even if its like 2-3 months Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/45582-apu-vs-haswell-base-system/#findComment-600025 Share on other sites
