So i was going to upgrade to a GTX 780 but with the price drop of the 7990 now I'm not sure which way to go, any input? My rig is setup and PSU are already to handle either card.

Depends on what features you want and the price. Both cards are really fast so you could go with either and be real happy. Personally I go nVidia because i like having PhysX even if I don't use it and all nvidia cards can now run 3 displays natively off one card.

at this point i would recommend u to get the one with lower price cause of the newer 9000 series coming. i like nvidia more cause of frequent updates and a little better temps.

The 7990 is the fastest card you can fit into a dual slot. If you don't want to wait go for that one.

Otherwise I'd suggest you wait a few weeks until the 9000 series is announced and check out what it has to offer.

9970 is said to be 5% faster than the 780 at a lower price. [said various rumors]

The HD7990 is a MUCH faster card. However because 4 way crossfire or SLI doesn't work well adding in another 7990 down the line won't be a very good option.

The 9970 if it's as rumours say 5-10% faster than a 780 then I would wait for that, but keep in mind that a 9970 will still be much slower than a 7990.

So it's up to you, if you know you're not going to upgrade for a long time and when you do you're comfortable with selling the HD7990 to get a newer card then get the 7990, it's probably what I would do, the 780 is 10-20% faster than a 7970, so a 7990 will be 70-90% faster. If you'd rather have a single card so that you can easily upgrade later on then I would wait for the 9970 which is allegedly coming out on the 25th of September.

Wait for 9000 series or get a 780 :)

what are you people talking about??? wait for the 9000 series??? the 7990 will outperform the 9970 since it's a dual gpu solution vs the single gpu on the flagship 9970.

The 9000 series press event is scheduled on 25. september, so have in mind it will take a bit longer for the accual cards to hit shelves, probbably end november-start december... which is a long way from here..

And the best thing is that the 7990's price dropped substantially (just above 600$ in the US), which should reflect good on the rest of the world surely.

Get the 7990, and don't worry. The Titan (ar anything else for that matter) got nothing on it, and this is a high praise from an nvidia fan.

The 7990 is the best gaming grade GPU in the world and it will be at least another year and a half until you need an upgrade if you don't use a big eyefinity setup, which would be the case with any of the cards available now.

I would reconsider that!!! The release date is September 25th stock will be a day or 2 later in the US!!! Jus look at the GTX 780 it was out the next day. Id def go gtx 780 or wait hun, hd 7990 is a good value but like you'll b limited to no upgrading later :(

I will consider it. On another note the 7990 doesn't match my build either. The GTX 780 with the green LED would.

With the 7990's higher performance, you also get higher temps and power draw. I'd wait if possible for 9000 series and get a 780 if not.

nope, just nope, from unveiling to selling there's usually a month grace-period. So best case scenario you will have to wait for at least another 2 months (my estimate is more like 4-5 months) untill you have the card in your system. And even if there wasn't, the 7990 still will be a stronger performer than the 9970, the 9970 will ofc consume less power and run cooler, but neither is the issue with the 7990, it's a beast of a card.

My guess (more of a hope really) is that the 9970 will perform a bit better than the titan (10% maybe?), and @ 600$ that is superb, but 7990 for 660$ is a better choice IMHO.
