Game idea thread

Title is pretty self explanatory share with us ideas for games you thought were interesting. Just imagine a world without technical limitations and unlimited resources and let your mind go wild.

 

My idea for a game is a fantasy MMO but each server has a random generated world and a large one at that. (roughly land masses equal to eastern kingdoms, Kalimdor and northrend from WoW combined.) Different environments and geography etc. As well as towns, cities and NPCs. But it has no quests, not a single one. Once you enter the world after you made your character you are let loose upon this fresh world. And you can do your hearts content. Become a farmer, a tailor a business man. A husband a soldier what have you. But more interestingly become a hero... or a villain.

 

In all MMOs i played I came across the bandit leader who is having his men attack a farm. And i always wondered what it would be like to be him. How'd he get there what did he do to get in this position. Howd he scrounge the money to hire men why did they chose this farm how'd he arm his men etc. and how they deal with would be adventurers. What if a MMO had no evil NPCs but you COULD be the major villain.The evil necromancer who threatens the world with an army of undead. Or the lord who will crush his enemies under the feet of his soldiers boots. Or the evil sorcerer who holds a dragon under his command. Or perhaps a simple thief who pick pockets other players. Or you can chose to be the Gallant hero who will stand between them and the beloved people of your small town who will stand up for righteousness and glory. Or  shrewd business man who plays both sides to make the most profits.

 

I think it'd be great for self expression and RP. Casuals can basically sit there and play farmville or hotel manager all day. While the hardcores can battle one another in a constantly changing world based on player choices. Perhaps a server can be over run with nothing but evil players and they could rule the world. Maybe untill one day a brave warrior will rise above them all and lead the world back to the light. Or a server be at peace and prosperity. Where a devious player could sit in the shadows plotting and preparing to bring destruction to that world once again. Just imagine being that guy! The one who can change a world forever!!

 

Add in say a tool to design objects or items then incorporate them into the game like everquest next is doing so each server can be unique not only in environment, economy, or socially but also architecturally or culturally. How cool would it be to roll a toon on say an asian server and it'd be as though you traveled to that part of the world based on the buildings or even environment just gaaaaaah thinking about it makes me want it so bad but i know it can never be atleast in my life time haha : / opinions and other game ideas are appreciated : D

Go play minecraft pvp. There are tons of servers and I know some of the servers have similar features to what you're describing. You'll join a guild, build your own city for the guild, give each person different tasks like being a miner, farmer, scout, redstone engineer etc. You'll be the bandit that assualts random travellers or the knight in shining armour that protects them. There are server-side mods that will give players a class and skill system that'll allow you to be a dragoon who jumps high into the air, a necromancer who summons zombies and skeletons to do his bidding and even a thief that steals other people's weapons. Maybe your guild remains neutral and just do it's thing or maybe you're the bad guys that assault other's castles every night.

So yeah, play minecraft. Right now it's probably the closest thing to what you want.

well i know what minecraft is and stuff. But I just want that on a massive scale and not blocky. I just want a level of control and freedom that it can't provide : / I want you to have absolute control over everything. I guess I basically want .hack to some extent XD Where you control almost every aspect of the game. where the players are the heroes and the villains. now combine this with a oculus rift, an omni and peregrine. and you can have unprecedented control and realism. I'm thinking it could be rouge like as in if your character dies you have to start over. character has realistic needs when it comes to sleep drink and food just. Gaaaah I want it so bad XD

Sorry, but that'll never happen. Minecraft is your best bet, and you can controll every aspect of it with mods.

A fps where germans descover a alien technology that is very dangerous and possesive and pretty much makes humans 10 times stronger (handling weapons, speed and all that kind of futoristic stuff) People run a worldwide poll where anyone can vote whenever to destroy that technology or not and almost all people in the poll vote to keep it. So Germans don't destroy it and decide to test it. And to bad for people that have tested it they became possesive people that pass the technology themselves and half of europe became very smart and strong zombies that want to destroy the rest of the world and rule it and that drew europe + others into the massive world war 3 that made huge destructment, Americans sand in spy that has a role to retrive the technology back to america while not blewing his cower of headless human zombie. The Americans reprogram the technology to be in they favour and are pretty ready for the war. Later they discover that this technology isn't self possesive but a something is controling them trough the technology so Americans try to trace the thing trough the technology and eventually they find it after countless weeks of war and realize that this is the monster that can kill everything and everyone in a blink of a eye, but they win after some fancy plans for attacking and the possesing people has stopped, war has stopped and they destroy the technology and everything is happy till the world isn't drew in the war again? Call of duty ghosts? Lol.

No, it won't. It has several concept flaws that'll never make such a game possible. No one wants to be a farmer or an underling, everyone will want to be the hero or the final boss. It is not possible to replace the NPCs with players nor is it possible to give such unique roles to players without everyone else be upset. Not to mention how unreliable it would be. What if the player that's the ultimate evil suddenly stops playing? Or if he decides to log in during the middle of the night and destroy every single village? No one will ever make such game.

Games that don't introduce unrealistic limits, like friendly fire, it happens and should not be disabled, I know there's a good group of people that do it on purpose but there's an easy answer to that like that player loses their guns or has their gun capabilities banned for a period of time, or for a game, but they should still be allowed to play sans guns :P  or killing abilities but be kill-able ;)

 

A game based on Google Maps, as in you can go to pretty much any area even outside the games intended range and do what you want in a Grand Theft Auto theme. For example Battle Field N, out in the open area of any mapped Google Map area, you could battle anywhere and even freely move to new areas as your team dominates.

 

Also, no scoring, its pointless just play.
