The Torture box is down...

 

 

and so is 1942... There are no populated servers, its now gone the way of call of duty 1 

The story goes that this guy erik who was hosting the last dedicated 1st gen i7 server. His machine blew out 4 nights ago... there were still a few straggling servers for the next 48 hours... It didn't take long for population to fall... EA was ruthless

by now 1942 is but a barren wasteland without 1 single dedicated 24/7 deathmatch playlist and not 1 person online

Aww, this stinks. Why can't they have but one server.

Funny, I'm seeing 620 people online and 388 servers.

 

Me thinks there's an issue on your end.

 

 

Not really...

 

 

There are still a few non-dedicated

 

It will never be like it was with the torture box

 

 

This multiplayer game is pretty much dead

620 people online and 300+ servers for an 11 year old game is dead?

 

P.S.  Battlefield 1942 came out in 2002.

 

 

Edit:  As of 8pm PST.  There are 199 DEDICATED servers. 

 

19 of which are populated.

Aparently it was my connection...

 

 

but the torturebox is down

 

I was able to find a small server thou with no admin and a nice kid saying he did my mum and then yelling hacker!!! over teamspeak

I doubt BF1942 & BF2 will be dead anytime soon. Both have modding support, BF1942 is free2download throught origin and BF2 just got major update on one of it most popular mods. BF1942 FinnWars will continue recieve boost in players yearly 6th of dec ;)

It's a shame really because that game and BF Vietnam where in my opinion the best BF games made so far. They were actually about battlefields not just small skirmishes with one tank. But I guess we need to go and paly Planetside 1 and 2 to get a proper battlefield where there are 50 tanks all rolling together. Imagine if BF4 was an MMO FPS like Planetside 2 is, it would be super cool.
