I was looking up a couple reviews for the GTX 770 and noticed that it was only a bit behind the GTX 780 for 2560x1440. Do you guys think the 780 is worth it over the 770 in terms of 2560x1440 gaming performance? This is a discussion/question so please do not tell me to get "x" card instead. Thanks in advance.

I personally don't believe that it is worth the extra $250 for the slight performance increase.

Yes because the 780 has a 3GB of VRAM. But wait for 9XXX series.

But the 770 has versions with 4GB of VRAM.

Some sure CoolBeans never gets tired to telling others to wait for the 9XXX series :P

The 780 is not a good value card and the 770 should do. It really just depends on the user's preference of settings. Some can't bear not maxing things out or getting as close as possible no matter what.

I'd just get a 7970. It's cheaper, has the vram, and can hold pretty well at 1440p.

780 if you're doing multiple monitor. The extra memory and higher bandwidth works wonders there. But if it's just the single monitor, 770 is a solid choice. I've had no problems with my Gigabyte so far, and it's made mince meat out of everything I've thrown at it (albeit only at 1080p).

Being said, the 780 will have a slightly longer lifespan. It's simply stronger, and will be able to better handle more intense games as time goes on.

not true. i myself had tested against an evga 770 sc with a reference gtx 780, and it clearly has performance increase by 20-30%. and yes, im gaming on a 2560x1440, and it does perform wonders with a 780 IMO.
