Extra front panel connector?

Go to solution Solved by WildTurtle,

This is a very old standard for an audio connector. Now the standard is HD-Audio.

I've connected all the front panel cables from my prodigy to my motherboard (asus z77 deluxe i) and I have a extra cable left over named AC 97, I don't have a plug for it o my mobo so do I need it really and what is it used for?

i9 25.6 GHz with NeuronThreading, 256gb 6000 MHz RAM, GTX 990 OC 3024MHz 12gb, Skeletal X99 motherboard, 1 Petabyte SSD, Fractal Design Humaniod R1 Case, Herbivore 10,000W PSU, Noctua NF16 LP Derma Cooler.

It's useless as you have hd audio, but do not cut the ac'97 off it can break the hd audio. At least mine did.

That's good to know, I think I just left mine dangling lol
