75 Hz ips vs 120 Hz TN

Go to solution Solved by Alex(PlayMedium),

I have come to love the smoothness of 144hz and I couldn't imagine going back to anything under 100hz. I have seen good IPS monitors, but the smoothness of a 120/144hz monitor is just far more important for me than the good color.

You have to decide what is more important for you.

Hi,

i am currently looking for a new monitor i am currently using a samsung 60hz tn 21,5 " panel which i OCed to 77Hz and a philips brilliance 150p the latter is very old and needs to be replaced i play primarily shooters and coop gamesand the occasional single player game like cs:go, border lands 2, dishonered. I want to get a slightly bigger screen (not over 24"),  i dont really care for features.

so in my position what would you suggest

a 23/24" 75 Hz ips monitor (lg?) and try to get a OC (even though ips doesnt OC that well)

or a 24" 120Hz monitor (Benq/Asus)

monitor model sugestions are welcomed

(english is not my native language sorry for any mistakes)

I would go with the IPS, TN has a pretty poor colour reproduction when compared with an IPS panel.

depends on the IPS, I got mine to 75hz
for the monitor (IPS), I would get something like ASUS or Dell

coming from a person who does play battlefield rather competitively, I prefer IPS because it's a lot easier to see people with the color vibrancy of the panel, although, 120hz will be better for extreme twitch games such as Star Craft 2 or Dota 2, but 120hz difference is how the mouse feels, it will feel extremely smooth if your game can hit 120 frames above

If you're a competitive gamer and you need the frames, get the TN. Otherwise, get the IPS.
