Smoking Barrels - LTT's Unnofficial Gun Club!

Jack.EXE

Sorry but I checked and I couldn't find this topic on the boards.  I remember there is a discussion but I can't find it.

Anyways I've been looking at prices for new ones and they're up by about 20%.  Sadly they're all out of stock and are back logged for months.

Then there are the consignment inventory.  I was shocked to see prices are nearly double!  I saw a couple of used 92FS and they were not a dime less than $900.

ARs were starting at $1,000.  These are not the expensive units too.

Silicon and firearms related... prices are too darn high.

After almost two years, it's finally done*, well, there are a couple things I want to tweek, and I may change the optic setup but it's usable now.

(Please excuse the messy bench)

20210614-204507-1.jpg

Parts list:

American Defense Manufacturing UIC receiver set

LaRue MBT-2S trigger

Radian Talon ambi safety

PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube

PWS Ratcheting castle nut <- may get replaced with a forward controls castlenut and end plate, we'll see how I feel about this

Magpul CTR stock

JP Enterprises captured buffer, H3

Magpul MOE-K2 grip

Geissele Mag Release

Toolcraft NiB bolt carrier group

Radian Raptor SD Charging handle

LaRue 12" Stealth barrel

SLR Rifleworks 11" Solo Lite MLOK rail

SLR Rifleworks titanium adjustable gas block

Rugged Suppressors muzzle break

Rugged Suppressors Razor

Troy BUIS

Trijicon MRO

American Defense Manufacturing MRO Mount

Arisaka scout light mount

Modlite OKW-18650

Modlite Mod-button lite

Surefire DS00 tailcap

Arson Machine wire guide

Railscales grip pads and hand stop

Arisaka sling mount

Magpul MS1 sling

I just finished it up last night, so I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but I'm very happy with how it came out. I robbed the optic from my 16" rifle that's very similar (almost identical, really) so I'm going to start looking for a Vortex Razor 1-10 for the 16" gun. Then I might, maybe, buy another Razor 1-10 or the Razor 1-6 for this rifle. Maybe, I'm not sure yet.

I did keep an Excel sheet on this build, and the rifle itself, without the suppressor or other add-ons, came to just over $2400.

I know ammo prices are up; but are we really reduced to mangling poor defenseless carrots now?

What caliber carrot?  .45 or thereabouts?  I'll guess 12 cm.

And now I really want to break out my Remington New Army.  If only I could get black powder anywhere.

Yes it did, tested multiple times until the moisture was to much in the barrel that day 🙂

Now what happens when it hits the ballistics gel is another story lol

.44 carrot (.45 cal muzzle loader pistol)

I did a ton of testing that day, between rocks, fish hooks, spent casing - anything I could shove down the pipe 🙂

Well, that was an explosive episode.  Funny that you showcased a gun that by its nature will spit hot brass into your face, but I guess that's the life of a southpaw who shoots bullpups (although I feel like I've seen a few models that are ambidextrous).

Also, your friends' stances while shooting that thing caused me severe physical and mental distress.  I tend to make 12 gauge shotgun recoil my b***h by leaning heavily into it and being 300lbs.  Seeing people move so much over the recoil makes me nervous.

I totally understand spontaneous bullpup purchases.  I got the Steyr Aug I mentioned way back in this thread somewhat spontaneously, and it was a very near miss that I didn't get the S&W M&P-12 spontaneously when I found out about it.

How was the trigger on it, by the way?  I hear all bullpups have pretty angry triggers (the Steyr definitely does), but then the vlogs and stuff I see don't really mention it.  I guess it's just considered par for the course, so it's not worth mentioning ad nauseum every time they look at a bullpup.

As 12ga semi automatics go, tbh I noticed nothing good or bad about the trigger.  Wasnt overly light, yet also wasnt heavy.  TBH until you asked I didnt put any thought into it, dry fired it just now and trigger feels great for a entry level bullie

Oooo, mag fed semi auto shotty.  I hear mixed things about mag fed shotguns -- that they tend to have feeding issues, which makes sense given the geometry of a shotgun shell.  Have you had a chance to fire it yet?

Not yet, likely next week during the week (have another Gun Show to go to, might get another gun between now and then lol) - Im hoping for a better experience than the bullpup for a lefty at minimum.

I also bought a backpack insert, .3" thick, weighs nothing, claims to stop up to a 12ga slug, so going to shoot it with this new shotgun lol.  A manufacturer rep on video claimed it would, going to test that claim at the farm

Guess I get to join the club now.

went to gun show looking for a G19 MOS ended up just getting this.

spent weeks trying to decide between 19 and 17. Figured just in case I ever want to get the permit to conceal I’ll get the 19.

these things hold their value! Felt like I was buying precious metals or something, makes me feel a whole lot better about it lol. Used gen 3’s were only a little cheaper

Save it for TEOTWAWKI. Shouldn't be long now.

If it ever came down to that, I would not be toting a 110 year old bolt action around.  I do have a few modern ones in the safe.  🙂

Just in case anyone wanted to see what shoots .303 caliber ammo.  I have an Enfield ShtLE #3 rifle and a British pattern 1914 Enfield.

Very nice.  I don't have any old iron.  I still kick myself for not picking it up when it was cheap.  Not that I could afford to shoot it anymore than I do my current stuff.

My first gun I ever bought and my favourite.  I went all out and paid a little over $5k CAD for it.

PGW Coyote in .308 with a 19" barrel.

My first 3 shots with it at 100 yards.  IMG_20160817_153605.thumb.jpg.599628d0f5bc978c2366ce3451d37148.jpgIMG_20191016_105621.thumb.jpg.e21ac848e807eac2169dd2f3d4b8c65d.jpgIMG_20170127_143744.thumb.jpg.3ef2d2118d3db400ef11cad46c30c3b9.jpg

No at that time when I bought it I was new to firearms.  A friend of mine who has vaults of firearms and ammo helped me out.
