Would you buy a WWII Call of Duty?

I'm kind of curious about this. I would love a WWII CoD (it would probably be the only thing to make me ever buy a CoD game again) and I think it's long overdue that the series stop the futuristic shit and return to something more close to the series's roots.

 

On the flip side, I think World at War was the worst selling Call of Duty (not including the ones before CoD 4) so did people just have no interest in it? I fear it's a bit of a niche interest so it really wouldn't be worth it financially for a developer to return to WWII, but the series is going downhill anyways so they might as well try something different.

 

Edit: I decided to put in a poll question for interest in a BF/Frostbite Engine game since a lot of people have mentioned said things, and I'm really more interested in peoples' interests in the WWII theme as a whole as opposed to an interest in either of the games.

Definitely! The original theme of call of duty needs to brought back, I'm done with the kill streaky muliplayer based shooter they changed it into.

i really dislike cod's gunplay, as far as i'm concerned a ww2 skin would basically just be a reskin just like all the cods following 4.

 

I really enjoyed red orchestra 2 and bf 1943(would have loved this game on pc)

It'll probably move back to that era. Futuristic shooters have evolved from modern shooters, which in turn evolved from WWII shooters. Everybody has to admit that the ww2 genre was saturated. Normally the ideas or storytelling was overall pretty decent, like MoH airborne (except the last mission) brothers in arms (slowly got worse and worse though) and of course call of duty (CoD 3 multiplayer in my opinion was amazing, fun class system and amazing looking maps for the time, if you've not played it I wholly recommend it, such a shame it isn't available on PC otherwise I'd be playing it right now!) Cod 2 has one of my favourite single player campaigns.

WWII Shooters will make a comeback but unfortunately the futuristic fps are still being bought, until that period is completely stagnant we won't see any decent ww2 ones, as soon as that happens and a good one is released we'll be begging for futuristic stuff in 3 years haha. I think the reason why world at war didn't do so great was that it was made in the period where we wanted more present or future equipment. I feel as though the game itself is solid and certainly has the best zombie mode out the whole series. All just my opinion though. I remember being amazed by the graphics of the very first Medal of Honor lol.

I just don't get why they can't make one good CoD game every 3 years. I know each CoD game has 3 years of development now, but every single one these past 5-6 years has been absolute shit.

 

I'm not putting $120 down every year for CoD. The game doesn't even feel right on PC anymore.

Not interested in any COD game anymore. I played COD4 quite a lot. COD2 and COD6 a little bit. And they've not changed the game that much.

 

COD is not my kind of game.

Definitely. I'm getting mad burned out of all this future/semi future stuff that just gives them more ammo to make it Mike Bay the Game.

 

Need a refresher of modern, WWII, and maybe some 'Nam.

Fuck. Yes.  I love shooting Nazi's in the head with an M1 Garand. 

 

I loved the first Call of Duty games.  The Medal of Honor games were cool, too.   

 

I played the Modern Warfare series and I enjoyed them.  Black Ops didn't engage me too much. I haven't played any others after that one. They looked drab and boring.  I don't play any of them online.  I like campaigns, missions, and the stories. 

 

Is World At War being remastered or is there an entirely new one coming?

I would play any COD game that is focused on the past not any of this stupid future stuff. I want Civil War COD with muskets and 800 player servers with everyone walking in a line

Yes, yes, no. I'd buy it as long as it isn't that piece of crap that is Call of Duty.

Honestly if someone else made it probably. I feel like Call of Duty is now a fast paced FPS that is adequate in terms of game development. I don't think WWII would fit the new Call of Duty model. IF The Division doesn't suck...it'll be broken and I'll be sad about it... Ubisoft might be be able to it. I think DICE is the obvious go-to but I personally like how the Snowdrop engine looks.
