How should I upgrade my PC

So, I build my PC a few years ago and it was a pretty mid range PC then. I was thinking of upgrading this year, but needed some opinions of where to go to get the most for my money. I dont want to leave my kids hungry but I am thinking of maybe spending $300 on it. 

 

Specs:

 

Case: Vion AXP 100        

Motherboard: Asus M5A7BL-M LX Plus

CPu: AMD Phenom ii x4 965 black series 3.4 Gz

Ram: Corsair 8gb Ram 

GPU: EVGA GTX 750 ti

Storage: Samsung 850 Evo 150gb / Seagate 2 tb 72,000rpm

Power Supply: 750watts

Cooling: 1 120mm fan in the front / 1 70mm fan in the back, CPU with stock fan.

New CPU and motherboard. That should set you back maybe $260-$300. Like a i5-4590 and H97 board. $270 maybe? Then save up money for an R9 380

I'm with them. New cpu and board. Maybe a 4460 to save a few bucks instead of a 4690 but its 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

I have seen gtx 770's for around 200 on an open box deal.

Blowing 300 bucks on an i5 when you have a decent 4 core cpu is nuts.
