How much RAM does Premiere pro normally use?

Go to solution Solved by Theo,

If you have more ram itll use more ram, premiere pro is generally better than vegas imo

I figure this is a simple answer and that the answer will be yes, but does premiere pro usually use close to 10GB of RAM when rendering. I've just switched from Vegas which was only using 4 or so and was wondering if it's normal for premiere pro to use 10gb. It's not much of a big deal, I still have 18GB free. This is a curiosity thing

In terms of RAM usage it's not... For me at least. I only switched to Premiere because the latest version of Vegas is too buggy and only renders my video half the time. And you're right about using more RAM. It's up to 12GB

Just because it uses more ram doesnt mean its worse, it sees you have the resources and its using them to probably render the video faster than what vegas would do. Plus i think in the settings you can cap how much ram it can use

The RAM usage doesn't bother me. I genuinely prefer to edit using Vegas. Just a personal preference, but that might change when I get better with Premiere

Yeah same, but its cause im used to Vegas and ive my render settings all set in, but Premiere has more things and can render faster with equal quality settings ( i think )

Vegas is SO user friendly it's not even funny :P I use after effects quite well and I still use vegas for quick things because it just feels so smooth!
