Asus ROG Swift PG348Q & PG279Q | Refresh Rate Updates | 100Hz & 165Hz | IFA 2015

ROG Swift PG348Q & PG279Q

So these two aren't newly announced, BUT! They have been confirmed to have new refresh rates which are very exciting!

The 34" G sync 3440x1440 Ultrawide is set to now work at 100Hz, just like the upcoming Acer x34

The PG279Q (G sync, 1440p, IPS) is now announced to work at 165Hz! The first monitor to have this refresh rate out of the box, and at 2560x1440. Giving the Acer alternative a great run for its money, even with its new frame-less design! (And possible 150Hz refresh rate, which is unconfirmed)

Both of these updates were confirmed at IFA 2015 by Asus themselves, and they made a press release here: http://press.asus.com/PressReleases/p/ASUS-Showcases-Complete-Lineup-of-ROG-Gaming-Innovations-at-IFA-2015#.VedlF_ZVhBc

wait, so the only difference between the PG278Q and PG279Q is the refresh rate and G-Sync? Am I missing something?

It's also IPS not TN Panel :)

Originally the PG279Q was set to be the same as the PG278Q + IPS, to compete with the Acer IPS 144Hz 1440p display, but with the new updates it has added the higher refresh rate to the mix.

Both are G sync.

Yeah they are the only main differences the higher refresh rate and IPS instead of TN. (Which is a decent bit of change aha)

I'm hoping it comes in at a similar price to the Acer XB270HU as it was meant to direct competition to it before they announced the new refresh rate, and also before Acer announced the XB271HU.

No that there are AMD cards that can push that resolution

I don't understand you, do you really think people care about 100$ on a 1500$ monitor? The Acer Predator XR341CK is the same price now btw

Yea, and it's frustrating because it's the exact same panel as in this monitor and the other acer one.

That's why i'm complaining to AMD, it's a freesync issue

Uh...you know the fury X is roughly equivalent (a little behind if anything) to a titan x/980 ti?

So by that logic there are no Nvidia cards that can push it either

A little behind is 20-25% for you?

1mm bezel...putting a glass in front doesn't make it thin borders

I've had a LG monitor with Cinema display since 2012 with 1mm bezel but with 1 cm black display within

Yea. Dell has a true thin monitor. Would be nice if other manufactures don't lie, and make it reality.

A border is still a border for surround, but anyways monitors can go in the trash bin with VR coming up   :D

Please not here. This has been discussed to death hundreds of times already on this forum.

On topic: I'm going to (re)post what I said on the other thread

Assuming the PG279Q doesn't have any QA issues *cough* XB270HU *cough*, I just might get that for christmas. And maybe another 980.

Did you mean this for Eizo thread? o:

Asus haven't really been marketing these monitors with 1mm Bezels as far as I know,

Although Eizo did say bezels are less than 1mm, but then go on to say with a 5.5mm border.

Acer however are saying 'ZeroFrame edge to edge' with their new displays which is of course marketing bullshit

Yep but I have a three 3 XB270HU with these "issues" all for about half the price (400€) so you don't see me complaining about 7680x1440 144hz G-SYNC.
