Curved monitors worth it?

Hey guys,

Wanted to get your opinion on curved ultrawide monitors. I am planning on getting one very soon and tossing up between the AOC U3477PQU or the Dell U3415W.
The AOC is $895 AUD and the Dell is just under $1200 AUD. They're both the same resolution and both IPS. Only major difference is the curve on the Dell.
Is it worth the premium for the curved?

Thanks

There isn't really huge benefits from having a  curved screen... more of a sex appeal imo xD

I'd go with Flat Screens.

Curved screens, Sometimes they are easy to look at end of the screen since it's length is shorter than Flat Screens.

But it's not really worth the money.

Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10GHz - Intel Stock Cooler - Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB Synergy Edition

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

WD Green 1TB - Seagate 2.5" HDD 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 500GB - Antec X1 E.

I mean, if someone were to give them to me, I wouldn't say no. But I'm not going to go out of my way to buy one. I'd also rather have two or three of them, one display just doesn't feel like enough after having two, and it would help with immersion, imo.

If you like distorted images then yes...

do you mean the curve distorts the image or the flat panel will make things look distorted?

In my opinion for that price you'd be better of with a 4k ips monitor or three. At 34" the curve can be handy, but if you sit anywhere else than the perfect sweet spot you'll get worse distortion than you would on a flat screen (although most of the time the flat screen won't bother you anyway). As long as the panel has good vieweing angles (even a lot of tn panels are good enough for a desk) you'll be fine. I just don't think it's worth 900+$, especially when you get an awkward resolution.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

The curve does because the image is designed to be displayed on a flat panel :)

Its basically a marketing gimmick, someone figured out how to do it and companies figured they could charge more by making up reasoning why its a good thing (most of which is actually false even though at fist glance it seems to make sense).

I wouldn't pay such a premium for that.
