Hey everyone, I'm needing to switch to a new psu and was wondering what you guys thought would be a good idea between these 2 here. Power is necessary from either of these, just don't know which to switch to. Both have great reviews and I know Seasonic is top notch, but that 1200i has some pretty cool features.

or

Seasonic Platinum-1000 (link is also to newegg.com)

Thanks in advance,

Nate

They're both excellent PSU's. If you need the extra Watts, go for the Corsair. If not, the cheaper Seasonic will do the job most definitely.

failing on all rails? maybe RMA?

I'd go for what suits you best. do you really need 1200w? are you running like three or four way sli/crossfire?

I would personally go for the Corsair AX1200i.

What are your specs? You might not even need such a high wattage PSU.

You would only need it for like 3+ GPUs or something fancy like that.

Both are top quality. Seasonic make most of their own whereas Corsair are all OEM - albeit very top quality. The AX1200 (not i) for instance is actually a Seasonic unit. The newer i model is from a new supplier that is doing all of Corsair's digital PSU's.

If you only need the 1000 watts, go for that ones...

Are you sure that you need 1200w, what are your specs?

Actually, the AX1200 is made by Flextronic just like the AXi series.

gapped - you are correct sir - it was the lower end AX series that Seasonic did...

Thanks for the quick responses everyone. I'll probably be seeing if I can get a refund on the HX1050, for some reason the fan on this one goes pretty wild out of nowhere, at idle sometimes it spins up to max, then calms down, a few minutes later (still at idle) spins up again. This is my second HX1050, first one in my other system is still going strong, so I still like them, just maybe thinking of something different for this specific machine. I don't actually need 1200w, but I do need around 1k so I'm just trying to pick between these 2 because I like what I've heard about both. I guess I'll go for the cheaper, lower wattage option; the only reason I was considering the 1200i is because of Corsair Link...I likes me some software controls :).
