WHOOO That means im getting 300mbps soon!! I hope I get a better upload too! 10mbps is wank

You get 12Mb/s upload with the current 152Mb package, an entire 2Mb/s more!  True the upload speed is terrible, but I'm guessing 95% of their market doesn't care much and prefer a high download speed.

Yeah thats true, but I called and there is no way to increase it even if I paid, which sucks

I happen to live in both Birmingham and London, neither place has their download speeds throttled.  VM used to throttle download speeds but now only throttle uploads.

 

EDIT:  They only apply thresholds to their lowest tier packages of <30Mb/s, all higher packages don't have throttled download speeds.

"We've got great news for all customers on our broadband tiers of 30Mb and above. After listening to your feedback, we've decided to stop applying our traffic management policy to download speeds." Source.

Ehhh... and it is not like it is good Upload any way, 9Mb/s or something?! For half the price you can get 70Mb/s download and 19Mb/s upload with BT. I might be wrong but in cities Virgin could be better but where I am BT is a LOT better than Virgin. Not saying I dislike Virgin, but if I knew I could get cheaper, faster internet with them where I am then I would.

 

(Not trying to BT fanboy just going with the best value for money option from my location)

Don't trust Virgin. Not only that the max speed will only reach small percent of all clients but they throttle you down on work time... Not to mention that the connection quality is terrible with drops of packets sometimes. The speed is not everything. I sit with 50Mbps but sometimes can't play cs:go due to ping of 200-1000.

Maybe its your router.

If you're able to get Hyperoptic then why did you only get their 100Mb service and not the 1Gb?

Because 1gb is quite a bit more expensive, and I have nothing that could possibly utilize either the up or the down speed of 1gbat tge moment. Besides, ive just graduated and need to stabilise my financial ass before I start getting all fancy technology.

Well I haven't yet, but it would be nice to hear from them. There's also rumours of sharing our equipment with other Virgin Media customers so we can all access each others Wi-Fi... Not sure how I feel about that :/

Three or four years ago my ISP called to inform me that they are getting rid of my 5mbps plan, and the new lowest plan (which I would be pushed onto) is 50mbps. All without a price increase. 

 

I did not argue. :D

I don't think it includes every vm customer (I can't remember), but I know once its comes out you can optout of it so you don't share it

How about instead of making super fast internet in 1 area how about focus on how most of america either has no internet or dial up still

I don't think it includes every vm customer (I can't remember), but I know once its comes out you can optout of it so you don't share it

 

Ah okay, good. Still don't see why anyone would want to let anyone access their WiFi, without gaining anything from it.

How about instead of making super fast internet in 1 area how about focus on how most of america either has no internet or dial up still
