I have a friend who is planning to buy a new console and wants me to get one too, but I am in the middle of building a high end gaming pc, and I don't want to buy a new console, but my friend doesn't want to buy a gaming PC because he is convinced that he will have to spend over 1000$.

I want to prove to him that he can buy a PC that would be just as good (if not better) than a new console for around 600$.

I don't think you could find a good pre-built computer for 600$, but a custom built one would probably work.

I'm not all that good at determining the price-to-value of PC parts, or which older pc parts are good, since I'm new to PC building, so if someone could point me to an existing page with more info, or just give me specs for parts to build a 600$ish PC that's just as good or better than an Xbox1 or PS4, then that would also be appreciated.

Thank You.

Take this and throw an i5 in there instead of the i3, maybe upgrade to 8gb of ram and throw an SSD in as well if it fits your budget. It really depends where he's buying from.

on Pcpartpicker.com you can make 500 dollar pc with 6 core amd proc, 7870 gpu, 8gb ram, 1tb drive... and all components quality brands. for 600 you can get 8320 with 7950.

just watch out for discounts. there is "Console killer" topic on forum, check it out. For 550 dollars you get pc + keyboard and mouse or even xbox controller. I am lazy, so you search for topic :D .

without an OS its just $25 dollars over but its got 8GB of RAM a low end i5 can be upgraded of course an MATX case so its smaller than a mid tower based off the same concept as that video if you want an OS its going to cost a little more unless you have a copy lying about from a laptop or something like that you don't mind giving up I could not fit an ssd in the budget so he can always add one the other option is the AMD option which I have also configured for you they both have small form factors to make it a small PC overall if he does not mind the size a bigger case can be put on the list I chose the lower end i5 because it fitted the budget they are both good systems overall for the money and will play a lot of games although some the settings may have to be dialed down in the future.

To be completely honest, I didn't get your post :D I didn't think you were talking about a LTT thread, I thought you could've put together a partpicker list but you didn't feel like it. Anyway, those muffins sound yummy, can I have some?
