Will Ram Made for 3rd Gen Intel Work On 4th?

Go to solution Solved by ,

Yep it should work if not better on haswell since the memory controller is better than third gen ivy.

Hey there guys I have recently decided to do a massive upgrade on my computer. I have decided to go over to the new 4th Gen CPU's from intel and have worries that you guys might be able to fix. The parts I have picked out for the upgrade are: Intel Core i7 4770K & ASUS Maximus VI Extreme Motherboard, The ram I am unsure of. It is the Kingston HyperX Beast. (Click on it to see the full spec) The part that makes me worried is this quote from the website, "XMP-certified and designed to work with the third-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 Processors." Will this mean that I might encounter problems or performance issues? If this is the case can anyone recommend Ram that they have or know works well with the 4th Gen CPUs.

Thank you very much, Kind Regards aassttoonn123@

Yes, it will work. 4th Generation is better for higher clocked memory as well.

It seems you're upgrading from Ivy to Haswell..

It's not that much of an upgrade. Stick with Ivy..

it is a marketing scheme they used when 3rd gen was the mainstream line of intel CPUs for those who are less educated in computers to know that it would work.
