Hey guys,

I was hoping maybe a few of you would mull over the rig I'm putting together for my pal whose taking his first foray into PC gaming.

Its relativly cheap coming in at about R9000/$900, sadly parts in my country are so expensive lately, this rig shouldn't be much more than $700.

I also get Gigabyte and Corsair directly from the supplier so that helps- a bit.

CPU: Intel i5 4670 (he won't be doing any OCing) $220

MOB: Gigabyte P85-D3 $100

GPU: GIgabyte GTX660ti SOC (I know rather get the 760, but down south it costs over $100 more than the 660ti) $250

RAM: Corsair Dual Channel 8GB $90

PSU: Corsair VS-550 $50

HDD: Seagate 1TB $50

Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 $120

= $980

Daylight robbery, I know right?

Any advice will be well appreciated :)

I'm the one who overclocks.

CPU: i5 2500k w/CM Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO OC'd@4.2GHz RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB  MOBO: Intel Burrage DP67BG GPU: MSI GTX770 Twin Frozr 2GB HDD: 2x Seagate 2TB Barracuda PSU: Gigabyte ODIN 550W

DAMN, $90 for 8GB RAM?! It wasn't long ago when you can get 8GB of ram for $47.99 but now you get 8GB for the price of 16GB

Yeah I know right, worst is when I bought my ram (which is exactly the same) it was $60, and apparently RAM has gotten cheaper worldwide? Its just the suppliers pulling a fast one. If I got retail it would cost over $100

Is an SSD really THAT critical? He's a new pc gy, I don't think he's gonna need it?

CPU: 4670K is $219 on Amazon, you might as well get that.  http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i5-4670K-Quad-Core-Desktop-Processor/dp/B00CO8TBOW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375483943&sr=8-1&keywords=4670k $219

GPU: Why not this GTX 760 rather than 660ti when it's only $10 more? http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperClocked-Dual-Link-Graphics-02G-P4-2765-KR/dp/B00DHW4HXY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375484016&sr=8-1&keywords=gtx+760 $260

RAM: What speed is that RAM?  Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1866MHz here for $85: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Desktop-Memory-CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9/dp/B004CRSM52/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1375484081&sr=8-6&keywords=corsair+ram+8gb+1866mhz $85

PSU: That PSU isn't even 80+, try and get this one if you can, it's only a little more: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Builder-Series-Watt-CX600/dp/B0092ML0OC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375484184&sr=8-1&keywords=Corsair+600w $66

Total = $958

Sorry bro but Amazon don't ship electronics to South Africa, believe me I've looked for any possible loop-hole.

I would spend the extra $20, if he needs more performance he will always have an option available where as if you don't get the "k" version, you would have to buy a whole new cpu
