Arc is focused on cooling. R4 is focused on noise.

Throwing loud crap in a R4 won't make it quiet, just as putting quiet stuff in an Arc will not be loud. It will suit you fine you'll just have to get some quality fans, a decent cooler (with non stock fans), and a PSU farily above what is actually needed, preferably with a 135/40mm fan

The arc midi R2 has silent fans in it and say you get a Direct CU 2 card and a Be Quiet! cpu cooler and you have a nice quiet rig.

The define r4 case is more noise optimised but it will do fairly well.

Console optimisations and how they will effect you | The difference between AMD cores and Intel cores | Memory Bus size and how it effects your VRAM usage |
How much vram do you actually need? | APUs and the future of processing | Projects: SO - here

Intel i7 5820l @ with Corsair H110 | 32GB DDR4 RAM @ 1600Mhz | XFX Radeon R9 290 @ 1.2Ghz | Corsair 600Q | Corsair TX650 | Probably too much corsair but meh should have had a Corsair SSD and RAM | 1.3TB HDD Space | Sennheiser HD598 | Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro | Blue Snowball

i like my midi cases.. loud as your noisiest device/hardware.. even with Corsair

SP120PE fans at 7v is kind enough to be quiet for 8-12hrs next to my head..

i don't think you'll be disappointed, one bit.

Are the stock fans really crap? If so what are the best case fans to get (Cant do noctua P:). What would you buy?

Noctua's are obvious the way forward :p but other than that I said SP120 Quiet Editions tbh.

I thought SP120s don't move a lot of air but if I did corsair fans I should take advantage of the 140mm fan mounts and do AF140. Also I thought you didn't need static pressure for a regular case fan

The fans aren't bad, but they just aren't super high performance they are meant to be quiet. Be Quiet! silent wings 2 are my favorite fans. The corsair SP series is meant for radiators, but since the AF series have such little static pressure they aren't really that good.  The Be Quiet! silent wings 2 strike a really good balance between static pressure and airflow.

You do need some static pressure to pull air through like a fan filter or mesh or the panel in front of say a 900d or define R4

The front and top pof the midi r2 is quite mesh-y (if that's a word) so *shrug* they'd most likely perform better

I'll just use the stock fans and if im not satisfied with the noise/cooling performance I'll pick up 3 Silent Wings 2 140mm but whats up with the corners of the fans? Can I still mount them in my case?

Its designed for either a hard mount or soft mount.

Here is a video for the 120mm version

Holly crap just seen the price tag! $30 CAD each...

They are still new to north America so they are a bit pricey. If you want cheaper take a look at phanteks and noiseblocker.

as said, the R2 is a great quiet fan, even dressed with HDD and SLI/CFX seem to do the job. i use the

Corsair SP120PE @ 7v to mock noise level for water cooling. and also, for the 140 size i really like the

BGears B-Blaster 140mm for radiators and heavy filter air-flow.

I decided that I'm gonna go with Silent wings 2 140mm fans. I found them for $15 which is way better than $30

I have an h80 in an R2, swapped the stock fans for noctua 12s, which made a huge difference to both noise and performance.

As for noise, I have a matrix 7970 cooler that gets loud when running any games. As for day to day applications, I don't really notice the noise until late at night when the fans in the case are the only noise in the house.

If you want a quiet case, I'd advise against the R2, there are just so many openings for noise to escape.
